Why open that already? 80% of this town remembers 1983 well. Not really a time capsule.

Maybe they opened it early as they fear that in 100 years this may be a ghost town.

Maybe, just maybe, Alamogordo has a special time capsule cruel rule which dictates this imitation limitation.

I was here in 1983 and I can tell you this: the memories weren't that big of a deal to me. Aubrey Dunn's appleseeds seemed kind of interesting, though....

The seeds would be interesting but I would love to get a sample of the water. The stream it was taken from runs through Aubreys old place and through mine. I would love to have it checked to see how the mineral content, contamination etc. has changed.

When we moved to our home, on a well, we had the water tested and it had mercury in it, or something, I don't remember. There are businesses who do that, they're listed in the phone book. It might be a good thing to do.

This is kind of dumb. Time capsules are neat, but there haven't been enough changes in the past 25 years for this to be really exciting. You can go to any Salvation Army and walk into a time capsule - old records, cassette tapes, furniture. If it's at a thrift store for 50 cents, it's just not that special.
I'm glad they're repacking the stuff and putting in new items to uncover 25 years from now. I hope they include some current newspapers and magazines so the future generations can see what was really important in 2008: masses of people enamored by a ding-dong from Alaska who likes to shoot wolves from a helicopter and who Paris Hilton is dating. They should also include some random school class photos with half the kids being morbidly obese.

Some people you just cannot make happy almost 30 years is a pretty long time 3 decades only 20 years short of half a century. Think about all the things that have happened in the world and the huge tech advances in snce 1983 before you say nothing interesting has happened in the past 25 years. I bet you if you got rid of every bit of tech that was invented in the past 25 years your about 90 percent of the peoples lifes on here would becoem hard to get by. Cell phones gone computers gone texting gone hybrid cars gone the list goes on and on.
Ohh well like i said some people you just cannot make happy.
