Equal Rights Rally

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all those who came out to the Equal Rights Rally on the corner of 10th and White Sands today...it started out sunny but then the windy and cold came in, but we braved the corner for an hour and a half...

Leo and I were VERY pleased with the turn out and for the most part, the public was good to us...lots of cars honking in support and only a few snarls and glares and head shakes for those who didn't like us...but there were no one-finger gestures...Maybe someday we will have a celebration when equal rights finally pass for all! Peace, love and happiness to everyone!

I wish I was there to see the absolute fools you mase of yourselves.
You guys are not for equal right which you have, you want more rights.
You can marry the one you choose. Just as long as they are of oppisite sex...hey newsflash thats just the SAME right I have. So see you do have equal rights....what you are after are more rights as I mentioned before.
You are pushing your agenda in our face and when someone stands up for what we believe we are considered bigots.
You guys picket because you feel you dont ahve equal rights, but Ill bet the farm that if I got a picket together to show we were against homosexuality we'd be bigots too.
Why is it ok for you to express your opinions and when we do, you guys try to "throw us under the bus"?

I know you thought that you were doing something important and you will be the gay MLK. But really most believed, like we did, that you were pathetic and an embarassment to the community.

Ummmm, take a look at the paper on Monday, you can see our pretty little faces on their too! EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL, NOTHING LESS, NOTHING MORE our struggle for equality continues and we will NOT stop until equality is achieved!

Alamogordo doesn't have a Monday newspaper. Which paper are you all going to be in?

Did you advertise this rally? I hadnt heard about it.

USA Today, a special section featuring Gays in Alamogordo.

Not too much, just within our local email groups, facebook, myspace and a state GLBT organization.

Next time around it would be nice to get close to 100 people. Probably post flyers in Gay friendly areas and really get the word out.

You mean to tell me that Alamogordo has non gay-friendly areas? I've never noticed any.

I don't think you could call Cottonwood church a Gay friendly area to post a flyer, on the other hand something like the UU church would not mind at all. Hard to believe isn't it that we have bigots in Alamogordo.

NEWSFLASH...we DON'T have equal rights, you can marry the person you want...I can't...You fall in love with the opposite gender...not unless you are telling us that you chose to be straight...I didn't choose to be gay...this is who I am...and I am not able to marry my life-partner...so Mr. BEWARE, we don't have equal rights...and we will continue to fight until we do! WE are not trying to take NOTHING away from you...we accept you for who you are...you on the other hand don't accept us and want to take away and limit our rights, thus making us difference from you...May your God open your eyes one day and help you to realize that we are not all that difference from one another, and we shouldn't be treated any less...giving us equal rights and protection under the law will not change anything for you, the sky will not fall, the tower will not collapse, and the Earth will still spin to greet another day...

You DO have equal rights, as I stated. You CHOOSE to be gay just as I CHOOSE to be straight. SO therefore you DO have the same rights.Icant marry a person of the same sex just as you cant. What dont you get? It is equal. Guess you never truely understood what equal is. SO go ahead do your silly "rallys" as you call them. It proves nothing!!! Ahhh, actually it brings people out of their closets. It really does inspire and start a movement. Had it not been for PROP8 in Cali, we wouldn't even have thought about holding rallies. After hundred of thousands came out across California and eventually millions across the US, it inspired us and thousands more to do the same. It would be foolish to only only Pastors that spew vile to make themselves known and not us.

Regarding the fact that we were born Gay. Unless you are Gay, you have no right and no idea why we were born this way. You will NEVER know how or why we were born this way.

The only way you can believe that we choose this to be Gay, is if you are just plain ignorant and shake your head every time we Homosexuals tell you flat out, we did not choose to be Gay and you, with your closed mind and deaf ears, says we were.

I am glad I was born Gay and have been Gay since Kindergarten or as early as I can possibly remember.

ok so my grammar is off, just got up, or maybe it's just cause' I'm so "Gay"!

It was a great rally! We even had pizza! Even a trucker passing through town honked his air horn and waved (using all five fingers) his support.

I do think that some passing straight people even had a chance to feel privileged just like Beware and Teacher must be feeling after posting here their brilliant and unique views.

Beware, you are the only one making a fool out of yourself. Everyone should be able to marry the person of their choosing. How is it hurting you?

It's not. If your kids were to ask, the only thing that you would have to say, is that they are two people who love each other. All families are different, and as long as they love each other, it should be alright.
