I head a while back that First Baptist sold their building and were moving? Does anyone know why they haven't started building on new site? What happened to Pastor Campbell?

Are you a member of the church? Ask them.

If I had the correct answer and gave it to her then she certainly would have been asking me. She wasn't asking you beause you don't know anything except to give a smart aleck remark. She didn't need for you to tell her the stupid thing you told her. I'm sure she already knew that.

First Baptist isn't for sale any longer. The church decons/staff kicked Pastor Bill Campbell out..The church is getting their feet back on the ground again! Bill Campbell shouldn't be a Pastor, he is a plain idiot. He left town with his head between his legs.

According to Gayle's Facebook page she just recently updated her current city to Garfield Heights, Ohio. Did Bill go with her or did she go alone because Bill's still says Alamogordo?

I attended First Baptist for several months just before he came. I was tithing and all, but hadn't joined because I knew they were going to get a new pastor and I wanted to see what he was like before I committed. I didn't want to join and then leave if it wasn't right for me. The first Sunday he preached, he told everyone in the congregation who wasn't a member that they needed to join. He said even if we were tithing and attending regularly it wasn't right because we were also having fellowship with and being ministered to by the other members. I thought about the fact that NONE of the other members had 'fellowshiped' with me at all, except one older man (80+) who kept hitting on me. He was the ONLY one who ever made any effort to speak to me. I never went back. I found another church that did make me feel welcome.

"I went there", that sounds like he was pushing for a sudden membership increase from those like you who were still checking it out just to possibly make pepole check out his numbers because that's what he sounds like - a numbers guy. Any minister who is worth anything doesn't try to coerce people into becoming members before they feel like that is the place for them. I've seen that happen before and usually it's about the ego of the pastor and not what's best for the individual or the church body as a whole. By doing what you did, you don't have to transfer or cancel a membership and the church doesn't have someone on the rolls who's not attending. I'm glad you found the right church for you.

What a bunch of gossip for church goers. Certainly, God isn't pleased with all this situation.

It isn't gossip. It's what I actually experienced (not hearsay) and is the truth.

I'm sure he left to...There were a lot of people who does not like that man. Gayle is a very sweet lady..But Bill is something else...He should never be a pastor of any church...

I attended FBC for over ten years and this is what I have to say...

FBC has had many problems since I first started going! I have seen pastors and music ministers come and go. However Bill Campbell was definitely weird from the very beginning. He was not very personable and hard to read. I did not ever feel his sermons were ever genuine. His wife was a sweetheart though.

During my years of membership at FBC I have found the members to be very judgmental and closed minded. I have been incredibly hurt by the members there. Once my family and I switched to another church, the members at FBC turned cold on me. I truly thought I had developed a relationship and friendship with the members of FBC and it hurt me so bad that I was treated like a total stranger once I left. I left FBC because I was not growing as a christian under the leadership of Bill Campbell. This experience has led me really astray from Christianity. It has been really hard for me to start attending church and trying to open myself up to a new church.

Anyways,

I do hope FBC recovers quickly and I hope the people of FBC will be welcoming towards the community.
