Terrible experience

BEWARE!!! This company lied to my family from the start. Trevor Bachmeyer (chiropractor) assured us many times that he is UnitedHealthcare provider. Called the UnitedHealthcare - they have never heard of him. Gross overcharges, terrible customer service. Even refused to provide explanation of charges. Overall, lost $1,600 to these crooks. This company has rating "F" with Better Business Bureau. Go to this link below to verify: http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/busi...

This is with regards to the name listed in association with Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center. Malia Kenny is NOT associated with this office, her and her husband run a fantastic office in Danville and must be removed from this thread. Malia Kenny is part of Kenny Chiropractic NOT Bachmeyer Chiropractic and the two are completely unrelated. The administrator of this site needs to look into this thread because this is absolutely false and is discrediting two chiropractic offices, both in error in my opinion as there are always two sides to every story, however, if you look into this you will find that the two people are completely unrelated. Thank you

This is the owner of Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center, we have been in business for over 5 years, and in those 5 years we have had no complaints, no altercations or any bad relationships with any of our patients. To further add, many of the patients seen in my office have been coming to see us for over 4 years, by choice, not by force. We are a reputable business and have a great relationship with our patients. I am fully confident in our business and stand by our solid foundation which we have built on years of outstanding service. It is extremely convenient to lash out at those who provided recent service when faced with a financial crisis yet, the professional way to address a conflict is to calmly seek out a win win situation for both parties which does not seem to be the case in these two instances. I always have my doors open to discuss any issues at hand. Understand that when it becomes a personal vendetta towards a person or individual, this becomes slander, especially when the allegations are untrue and can be proven with signed documentation by the two parties, this becomes a legal issue. If there is any doubt as to the credibility of my office, feel free to stop by and talk to ANY of my patients, read the testimonials written BY MY patients as a matter of fact, there are even those who have been seen in my office no charge due to absolute necessity of care. I do not turn away patients, nor do I practice poor billing procedures. When times are tough financially, the actions and the economic crisis of an individual speaks volumes when there character is assessed. I have never been unfair or dishonest with any patient. I am not going to start now. This always reminds me of what happened with our dog. He got sick and was taken to the vet. He stayed several days but he died, and then I received a bill. I paid the bill even though the dog died, because the doctor did his best. The office speaks for itself with over 600 patient visits (all voluntary) per week and many many families who come to see us for outstanding first class chiropractic care.

My wife’s medical insurance plan, the UnitedHealthcare, covers 100% of in-network chiropractic services. Trevor Bachmeyer looked us straight into our faces and stated that his office accepts UnitedHealthcare, and that he is a provider, that we should not worry and we foolishly trusted him. If we would know the truth at that time, we would find a different chiropractor. If this is not deception, please explain to me what is. Later, after discovering that Trevor Bachmeyer has never been a UnitedHealthcare provider and we would never receive any reimbursement, I immediately contacted his office and demanded refund of the prepayment. His office provided me with neither explanations of charges made, nor a copy of any papers previously signed. Further request for a copy of receipts and related documents was blatantly denied. According to his office administrator, we can only have them mailed to us after 30 days from the initial request. It has now been over 120 days and we still have not received any requested documents. While trying to get any details regarding his charges, I have requested my credit card company to call Bachmeyer's office and inquire about the charges. The bank representative was verbally given an explanation that the charges for X-ray were $1,090,$297 for initial consultation,$158 for adjustments plus other miscellaneous charges. This is outrageous because the consultation was supposed to be free as part of the promotion. The X-ray charges are outrageous as well, because even a typical MRI costs less. Judge for yourself, but I believe Trevor Bachmeyer's business practices are unethical and shameful for a licensed chiropractor. Based on BBB rating it seems many of his other former patients have also filed complaints. As a matter of fact, because of these complaints, the Better Business Bureau rates his practice with "F", which is the lowest possible rating. Please explain how such an “outstanding” business could get such a low rating with absolutely impartial, credible and reputable BBB.

Alexander wrote: My wife’s medical insurance plan, the UnitedHealthcare, covers 100% of in-network chiropractic services. First of all, just to keep this simple, please explain the entire truth regarding your credit card company. We had a three way conversation with your company and you where you blatently stated (all logged by the way!) that you did not ever attend our office, never received any services and never even knew who we were. After faxing over proof to the credit card company with your signature, your identification, your sign in sheets (although please remember this is regarding your wife) as well as the dispute letter sent by your credit card company with your statement on it saying that you had no idea who our business even was. If you desire to cast stones, maybe get out of the glass house first. To address United Health Care, we have never stated that they would cover any services in our offices, you stated that they cover chiropractic, not us. We provided you with all the bills (we have the copies) as well as all the coding and dates of services for you to pursue them for reimbursement. If you doubt the fee for 7 seperate views of the spine, feel free to contact Norcal imaging or pacific imating either one will provide you with prices within the same guideline as our xray fees. If this is merely about your financial obligation to our office, I once again open my doors for you to come in and discuss a win win solution to this obvious misunderstanding. Regarding the BBB, feel free to call them and request the actual report of what the incidents were, you will be disappointed that they are with regards to delinquent bills which were never paid by patients for months and months of care, therefore we requested payment promptly to avoid any further action. To pose a question, in your line of business, if a customer or employer fails to pay his or her bill, do you merely let it go or do you pursue the collection of the fees for services rendered? Curious. As I stated previously, my office is always open to discuss an alternative to provide an amicable resolve to any situation including yours.

I've been a patient of Dr. Trevor Bachmeyer for about 2 years and I've always been happy with the services I've recieved. I even brought my whole family in! The staff are always polite and treats everybody with respect. I'm really surprised that someone would actually write something negative about them. Everytime I go into the office, it's crazy packed with so many happy patients. As for what he charges, I work at Best Buy doing retail and my husband is a garbage man. We don't make a lot of money, but we still can afford Chiropractic care in his office, so I don't understand why you guys are complaining about how expensive he is. The numbers in the comments are exaggerated in my opinion. I'm still going to refer my friends to Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center. They sure know what they're doing and my family is feeling great! Thank you Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center and their staff. You guys are wonderful!

These comments are quite shocking to hear. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Trevor's for over 2 years. Since seeing him he has been completely honest of what he can fix and what he can not. I don't find his fee's to be over priced and I have and will always be comfortable with referring someone I love to his office. When I first came to see Dr. Trevor I was in tremendous pain, & couldn't move my neck, I had numbness and pain down the whole left side of my arm and hand. I was supposed to have surgery and instead thought I would give his chiropractic care a chance. In these past 2 1/2 years I am no longer in pain or have stiffness in my neck. I could never put a price tag on my health, but he has been worth every minute and every cent I have spent in his office. Thank you Dr. Trevor!! You're the best!!!

Before I went to see Dr. Bachmeyer, I was not able to play golf due to low back pain. If I did play, I did not walk properly or without pain for a solid 2 days. I have been seeing him for the past 15 months and I was able to play over 60 rounds of golf last year after I started my treatment plan. I continue to see him to this day as I have been able to quit taking the excessive ibuprofen that I was depending on before my treatment started. My family goes to him as well and we are all very happy with the treatment we have received. I have recommended him to other friends who suffer from pain. He has improved the quality of my life tremendously and for that I am thankful. I have seen other caregivers in the past and none have taken the approach that Dr. Bachmeyer has given to me. My back is not an overnight fix and my plans are to keep seeing him and enjoy the activities that were once taken away.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Bachmeyer for the last 4 years and are very happy with our chiropractic care. My husband had been in a terrible accident, suffered through 2 years of rehabilitation for a shoulder injury and was told my conventional doctors that there was not anything further to be done to free the shoulder. Dr. Bachmeyer asked for an opportunity to try and free the shoulder from its current position and relieve my husband from the constant pain. After several visits and adjustments the shoulder began to move; each visit a little further and with less pain and less headaches. Needless to say, my husband can use his arm relatively pain free and has almost regained 100% motion. There can be no price put on this type of freedom of pain. All of the costs of the care were explained completely (very detailed) and we were given an opportunity to ask any other questions before signing up for care. Futhermore, the costs of care are reasonable and fair for the adjustments and maintenance of our bodies. If not for Dr. Bachmeyer, I would probably no longer be able to work or sit for long period of times. He has truly changed our lives for the better and is an inspiration to live a healthy lifestyle. Our experience at the Bachmeyer Chiropractic offices has been wonderful and we look forward to receiving maintenance care by Dr. Bachmeyer for many years to come and to live pain free. What a difference good chiropractic care can make in someone's life. J and K

We've started visiting Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic in Fall of 2008 and have been with him ever since. BFC is much more than just another Chiropractic office, it is a comprehensive no nonsense approach to health and wellness. It starts with teaching the patient how to best care for themselves, then applying Chiropractic care in areas that we're unable to address on our own. It also heightens your awareness to insure proper habits that in turn prolongs health and wellness in our daily life. My oldest son has been using Advair for years and after several months of care with Doctor Bachmeyer, he has eliminated his dependency completely. We would recommend his care and approach to anyone in need!

Hello everyone. While I think that it is great for Doctor Bachmeyer that all of his friends are coming forth to speak on his behalf, I find it interesting that two complaints were posted on March 20, 2009, and now all of a sudden everyone seems to be coming forward for him. Dr. Bachmeyer, obviously just learned about these blogs within the past 48 hours considering his timing to respond to the complaints brought against him. So far, he seems to be doing a great job recruiting many of you to speak for him and even managed to settle one of the two complaints written above this very morning! Good for you Alex (above)! I guess standing along side Dr. Bachmeyer's table at the Broadway Plaza this past weekend with a placard in hand had the desired outcome! Now, if we could just find a way to settle my issue??? Dr. Bachmeyer stated above that he has an open door policy to find a win win for all of his patients. Well, my wife and I paid a visit to Dr. Bachmeyer today. Unfortunately, he began his dialogue with us rather aggressively, spoke down to my wife by basically calling her a liar about a very serious issue we only recently discovered, and even said he intended to buy my home as we were leaving his office. You see, Dr. Bachmeyer realizes I am fighting to keep my home with a mortgage lender in this horrific economic period. To that remark I say “Shame on you, Dr. Bachmeyer.” Oh yes, and to the patient who was in his office today, and likely overheard our verbal exchange, I hope you recall Dr. Bachmeyer making that incredibly insensitive remark to my wife and me about our home. You may now doubt the very kind nature acted out in this doctor's office. In my opinion, it is a good thing if there is now just a shred of doubt in your mind. If these blogs can potentially prevent unsuspecting patients from experiencing the sort of thing we are now facing, our efforts are worth the time and trouble this entire mess has caused our family. I want to make very clear to everyone that I am in no way questioning the validity or quality of chiropractic care received from Dr. Bachmeyer. I, too, had great results physically while attending his practice. Unfortunately, mine and my wife’s emotional well being took a complete spiral downward upon realizing that Dr. Bachmeyer billed us in a way whereby we were never clear of his intentions, nor would we have used his services if we had known his true intentions where billing is concerned. His staff rushed us into signing documents he alleges we fully understood at the time of signing. His staff also told me on the following visit that these same documents were no longer available upon my request to obtain them, stating “The forms had been sent off to the finance company along with my application for a line of credit.” My wife and I now realize the Bachmeyer staff had these documents in their possession all along. I'm rather certain that most people would consider the billing method used against us as financial suicide for anyone who has lost a job over 6 months ago, and is doing his or her very best to keep his or her family afloat during these tough times. Continued On Next Thread.

Continued From Above: To Valerie who wrote about your quality experience with Dr. Bachmeyer (above), please allow me to ask you a few questions? If your husband who you say does not make a lot of money went into Dr. Bachmeyer explaining to him from day one that he was out of work, struggling financially, as well as fighting a mortgage lender to save your home in the midst a nationwide mortgage crisis, would you feel that you were honest with Dr. Bachmeyer about explaining your financial circumstances? Now, how would you feel if you and your husband attended Dr. Bachmeyer for a couple of months only to find out that Dr. Bachmeyer pre-collected $5602 for your husband and $4176 for you, and never mentioned his intentions to do so to either one of you? Let's now go one step further....... how would you feel if you called Dr. Bachmeyer to re-explain your circumstances after learning about the pre-collected amounts charged to you only to have him tell you "I'm upholding approximately $5,500 for the amount I pre-collected?" If you knew in your heart that you made an agreement with the doctor to pay him a monthly amount you knew you could afford, would you feel cheated in some way? You mentioned that you work in retail, and your husband is a garbage man, and the two of you don’t make much money. Could the two of you honestly afford the amount that Dr. Bachmeyer is telling me and my wife we are now responsible to pay for such a short period of care we received? My wife and I simply cannot afford to pay this outrageous amount of money Dr. Bachmeyer is requesting from us. He knows about our financial situation as I have routinely been open and honest with him over the course of our visits to his office. Next question I would like to ask everyone here reading this thread,“Do you honestly believe that Alex (the other complainant above) or I would be making such a stink if we felt this was in any way an error on our part?” I think this is a pretty valid question considering the two issues written about Dr. Bachmeyer’s billing methods above. For those of you who need some more convincing about the questionable billing practices I'm referencing, please review the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website at www.bbb.org . Once here, click on "USA Site". Next, use the pull down menu in the upper right corner and select "I am a consumer". Next, click on "Check Out a Business". Now, type "Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center, Walnut Creek, CA 94596", and depress "Search". Once here, you will note that the BBB has graded Dr. Bachmeyer's business with an "F" rating. I actually contacted the BBB to question them about their rating system. I was advised that it works just like a grading system for students attending school. The BBB rates reputable businesses with excellent business practices as an "A" business. Businesses rated "F" have the opposite track record in the eyes of the Better Business Bureau. Oh yes, I should point out that Dr. Bachmeyer defended his rating (above) with the BBB by citing a series of collections matters he has been involved with. According to the BBB, Dr. Bachmeyer has 1 complaint showing "Improper Collection Practices". Other complaints found include: "Failure To Substantiate Charges" and "Unauthorized Changes To the Contract or Agreement". Finally, two of the three complaints showing with the BBB, Dr. Bachmeyer failed to respond, according to the information found. I write this to simply protect others from becoming victims to the same type of situation my wife and I are now facing. Many thanks to everyone for reading about my very unfortunate experience with Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic Center!

Im a personal trainer in San Ramon and competitive soccer player in San Francisco. A few months ago I decided to get back into soccer shape. I got a little too excited and went right into lifting heavy, as a result of this, I injured my lower back and neck i wasn't able to dosi flex my foot and began to get numbness down my left leg. Its been 3 months that I've been seeing doctor "T", and I'm back in action. Thanks to him I was able to get back on the soccer field. I see Doctor "T" for my adjustments and continue strict stretching regimen, my back and hip just get better and better. Doctor "T" is the man, he knows what he's doing and I trust him to get me back 100%. I have tryouts in the summer and have no doubt that i'll be ready. Thanks Doctor "T". My experience with Trevor have been wonderful, he has followed though with every promise he has made to me. His staff is very warm and welcoming every time i call or walk into his office. Ladies and gents, I feel amazing...i didnt think i'd get back to where i am today. I recommend Doctor "T" to everyone and anyone that wants to feel better. Thanks Bachmeyer Family Chiropractic!!!

I have been going to Dr. Trevor since January 09. I have no complaints with my treatment. When I first started going in, I could not walk down the stairs at the office building I work in. When standing I felt like one leg was longer than the other. I no longer have that problem. I also can walk up and down the stairs with no problems. I have learned stretching technics and overall wellness from Dr. Trevor and his team of employees. I like the staff. It has been a long time since I have been in an office where the people are so positive and friendly. The Walnut Creek location is perfect for me to visit, take a walk, get adjusted, and go back to work. While the service may not be for everyone there is no sense in slandering someone. I can only speak for myself and I am happy with Bachmeyer Chiropractic.

Doug, it sounds to me like you started and agreed to to something like receiving treatment and signing a contract then lost your job and realized you couldn't afford this anymore. I don't think Dr. T or any of his staff is at fault here. Your pissed off because you can't get money back on a bill you agreed to pay. Let's not forget that you agreed to feeling better, yet "what?" you must have expected it for free? When it came to my insurance his office has been very straight with me on what my insurance covered, and I knew I was responsible for anything that wasn't. I had to contact the insurance company "myself" and take care of the paperwork on my own. You're having hard times and trying to cut back and this seemed like one of the first places to start. Everyone is speaking up on his behalf because they love him and the experience that they have had in his office. I'm sure everyone who spoke up doesn't have this financial issues because they communicated properly and together on what was the best arrangement for them. It's important that when people like you try to attack someone, that there other people who are going to disagree with you and stand up for the people that you are trying to hurt! I have a feeling your going to have a hard time finding more people to side with you! There are a lot of patients who LOVE Dr. Trevor, his staff and the services they received!!!

Many posters here seem to be missing the point of those who have had bad experiences. Clearly, the issue is not about the quality of chiropractic care that Dr. Bachmeyer provides. It's great that Dr. Bachmeyer has such a following and that so many people are now feeling better, thanks to his care. Unfortunately, there's more to being a medical professional than just being good at your job. The issue here seems to be the questionable billing practices. And remember, positive posters... just because it didn't happen to YOU doesn't mean it didn't happen to anyone. Everyone has different experiences, and it is very unfair to jump to conclusions and assume you know about someone else's situation or experience, just because you had a different one. I'm not questioning your positive feedback, so why question the negative experience of another? The only reason why I didn't get wrapped up in this is because I got a bad, bad feeling while at my first appointment. Dr. Bachmeyer told me my spine was in very bad condition and that I would greatly benefit from chiropractic care, which I to this day believe. Then, he left the room and his receptionist came in with a billing plan that seems to have been pulled from the clear blue sky. Why am I being charged a certain amount, when others are being charged much more or much less? There seems to be no rhyme or reason, and instead of being explained, my questions about billing were avoided, as were my questions about whether insurance covers the treatment. I never got a straight answer about that. Make no mistake here... I am in NO way criticizing Dr. Bachmeyer's expertise and talent in correcting physical problems. I'm sure many of you have been and continue to be helped. I am simply stating I did not pursue treatment because I did not like the way my concerns about payment were addressed. Based on my observations, I am not surprised to hear people are concerned with billing issues. And an "F" rating at the BBB? Really? You really have to work to achieve that. My whole purpose in posting is to let you know about my experience and to suggest that prosepective clients please just be careful. Ask for copies of your paperwork and check it over and over. Like any business, make sure you know exactly what you are signing and what it means. And if you don't know, ask, and demand a straight answer, no matter how much resistance you may get.

Hello everyone. Since some of Dr. Bachmeyer’s patients seem to feel they know more about me than I do, I would just like to clarify that I was laid off September, 2008, and began treatment with Dr. Bachmeyer in January, 2009. I was very clear in explaining this to Dr. Bachmeyer and his billing associate from day one. As written last evening, Dr. Bachmeyer did a great job at getting me back on my feet physically. I would still be obtaining treatment from him today if it were not for the surreptitious and exorbitant amount of money that I discovered when it was too late. According to a regulatory agency that I have spoken with recently, my wife and I were entitled to receive ALL documents that I requested and was told were no longer available the following day after signing. Dr. Bachmeyer’s staff failed to provide me with the proper disclosure documents that I was legally entitled to have in my possession. Again, as stated, I was very clear with Dr. Bachmeyer and his staff about my financial situation from day one. I had no reason to be untruthful about that. Had I known what was about to happen to me and my wife, we would have simply taken our business elsewhere. It’s as simple as that. I’m very glad that most of you are writing about your positive experiences with Dr. Bachmeyer. I would love to be writing a similar story of happiness about him and his staff. However, in this country we have something called “Freedom of Speech”, and I’m simply exercising my right to explain what happened to my wife and me. To Christy above, I’m glad that you had the good sense to feel that something was not right when financing was offered to you. Your explanation of events was identical to mine and my wife. Dr. Bachmeyer leaves the room, and Ms. Tato follows suit with a bunch of papers to sign in a rushed fashion. I asked about the papers, and was given mis-leading information. I felt more like I was purchasing an automobile than signing up for a simple billing plan to acquire chiropractic treatment. My only wish now is that I had had the good sense to do what you did, and walk out the door! Huge mistake on my part, and my only hope is that others learn from my terrible turn of events. Thank you.

I have been seeing Dr. Trevor for about 2 years now and have been very impressed with the quality of care. I have been a private pay patient from the start and have found the billing process to be very straight forward and simple. As a business owner and a consumer, I belive that if there is a dispute - it should be handled calmly and fairly. Sounds like the guy who has the problem went in with both guns blazing - which is never a good idea. Grow up and handle your responsbilites like an adult. Maybe counting to 10 would be a good idea?

Doug, I'm not surprised you wrote back in, you are so angry that you just can't let it go. You are becoming obsessed with this whole thing and I believe you have serious anger issues that need be addressed. I think your anger has made you act in inappropriate ways, and you fail to see or take responsibility for your choices. I have insurance, I took it upon MYSELF to check if it would be covered in their office, and what would be covered and not covered for my care. I also know with signing any contract that I am responsible for the payment if my insurance fails to do so. In your unfortunate situation you should have double checked for yourself before you decided to proceed. The fact is, YOU chose to have treatment and you got better. You say were unaware of your financial arrangement and now your left with a hefty bill and angry. Somewhere along the line you have to take some responsibility for not looking into it yourself. I think the way you handled the situation and your behavior has been ridiculous, and unkind. I'm sure there are better things for you to do with your time than to lash out on Dr. T. and his staff! Bottom Line: You signed up for treatment, your responsible. You need to focus on other things in your life!
