Yes, it is very concerning that Maurice Jay Wolin, convicted felon, is back living at the home of his ex-wife and young daughters. I wonder how he talked his ex-wife into this arrangement. As strange as it may seem to us that see this situation from afar, he probably brought up the well-being of the children, who would be better off living with their father, and such.

MoWo has in the past been found to have resorted to “deception and subterfuge” in a manner serious enough to be part of the court papers that yanked MoWo’s medical license – a legal action that MoWo himself consented to, by the way.

When on 7/17/10, Maurice Wolin consented to his medical license being revoked, he agreed with the findings by not fighting them or not even arguing that the language of the Decision and Order of the Medical Board of California should be changed. After reading it and discussing it with his attorney, Maurice Wolin dated and signed it with his own hand.

Among the language in this agreed stipulation it says that MoWo “engaged in deception and subterfuge regarding his age and motivation which was designed to arouse and seduce Willow” Paragraph 16 (D), filed May 26, 2010.

It seems that deception and subterfuge is an ability that MoWo will use when it fits his ends.

He seems to continue to try to shoe horn himself back into the field of medicine, where no one in their mind would ever associate themselves with him. Maybe he should redirect his efforts and become a professional magician, as this field does require “deception and subterfuge.”

There is room in the industry now that Siegfried & Roy have retired. I can already think of several tricks:

-“watch me make a medical research career disappear in a few chat room sessions!”
-“notice I have nothing in my overturned pockets.” The police assist with this part of the magic trick.
- Turning into Bob, Constitutional Analyst, Legal Analyst, and lately, Marc Fourneau.
- Travelling long distances with nothing but a keyboard and a proxy server.

I cannot possibly imagine why his wife would take him back. It is completely unfathomable.

He may have supervised visitation rights for his children but that is likely as far as it goes. Dr. Wolin (female) is a bright, attractive woman who has put up with enough. I doubt very much he is co-habiting with her.

Maurice Wolin, whose fall from acclaimed East Bay cancer doctor to child-sex predator was captured on national TV, said Friday he made a "terrible mistake" that shattered his family and cost him his career.

Although Wolin, 52, still questions the tactics used in the Petaluma sting aired on the NBC "Dateline" series, "To Catch a Predator," he said he hopes someday he can put it all behind him.

"It's clear that this was a mistake on my part," said Wolin in a telephone interview, two days after his sentencing for attempted lewd acts on a child under 14 that will result in two months of home confinement. "I hurt my family. I hurt my friends. I am aware of that."

After nearly three years of legal wrangling, which included disputes about evidence, Wolin in December pleaded no contest in exchange for an agreement he wouldn't be sent to prison. His sentence includes a requirement that he register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

On Friday, Wolin said he gave in because NBC was going to make a documentary of his trial and he didn't want to subject his family to additional exposure. He called “Perverted Justice” an unmonitored vigilante group and accused the network of making “an enormous amount of money off this, off me.”

A network spokeswoman said NBC news had no plans to cover the trial.

Wolin said he has been separated from his wife, also a physician, since his arrest and shares legal custody of their two daughters, ages seven and 10. He was forced by child-protective services to move out of their home in Piedmont and has relocated to an Emeryville apartment.

Wolin, who received his medical degree in New York and was a UCLA medical school professor, held research positions at firms like Chiron in the Bay Area and was working as a corporate consultant when he was arrested.

Wolin is unemployed and living off savings he told probation officials could last another year. His conviction, he said, doesn't close the door on future employment since he was working in research. His resume includes being former director of a center for bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, studying AIDS treatment and running his own consulting business.

During the past three years, he did some grant writing for a childrens' hospital, according to the probation report provided to the court before his sentencing.

"I worked 30 years in my career," Wolin said. "I never harmed anybody."

Wolin wouldn't discuss details of the case. His lawyer, Blair Berk of Los Angeles, said he maintains his innocence under his no contest plea.

Petaluma investigators said that Wolin was contacted by a decoy in a Yahoo chat room Aug. 24, 2006 and the two talked about having sex over the course of three days. Wolin, who went by the moniker “talldreamy_doc,” asked the decoy if she liked older men and cautioned her against telling her parents about the chats, according to the probation report.

“I'm horny for you,” the report quoted Wolin as saying.

On Aug. 26, Wolin informed the decoy he was coming to Petaluma. He arrived at a tract home used in the operation, walked into the backyard and then tried to flee when he saw cameras. His arrest was recorded on video.

Wolin, who had no prior record, told officers the decoy begged him to come and that he was concerned for her welfare.

But prosecutors said it was clear that Wolin wanted to have sex with a child and that he engaged in sexual banter even as he was commenting on the decoy's age.

Despite that, the probation report concluded prison was not warranted. He was identified as a medium-to-low risk for being charged again for a new sex offense and was an "upstanding medical professional" who has been in counseling.

Today, Wolin says he was in "no way interested in anyone underage." He discovered online chat rooms during a time of his life marked by death and sadness. His mother and best friend's wife had just died of cancer and Web sites offered a diversion, he said.

Wolin will serve a two-month jail sentence in his home with an electronic monitoring device. He said he will try to put his life and family back together.

"The Internet was a dysfunctional escape," Wolin said."It was a rough period of my life."

Wolin was arrested, and then all the sudden you were all speculating that Maurice WOlin donned a toupe, got on a dating service, and you all thought it was him.

Well there was another "predator" in a yellow shirt that was (had the similar balding hair) misidentified as Wolin on another webpage.

That speculation that Wolin was on a dating service was before his conviction. Before his conviction, there was a woman who got on a dating service, arranged a date, turns out the guy was a reguistered sex offender, SHE WAS ATTACKED, now the policy is that no RSO's are allowed on dating services.

If you were to think about it how can wolin date and keep the lawyer a secret.

'Dateline: To Catch a Predator' Case Ends in Acquittal

Joseph Roisman had been charged with for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor as part of a sex-crime sting captured by NBC cameras in 2006.

A sailor caught in a child-sex sting aired as part of the Dateline: To Catch a Predator series has been acquitted of all charges, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Sonoma County, Calif., Judge Arthur Wick on Tuesday threw out the case against Joseph Roisman, saying there was not enough evidence to move forward. The move came after six days of trial testimony.

Roisman had been charged with lewd & lascivious conduct with a minor after he allegedly arranged to meet up with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl in August 2006.

But it was part of a sting set up by anti-predator organization Perverted Justice and recorded by cameras from NBC's Dateline.

When Roisman showed up at a house in Petaluma, Calif., he was met by Dateline host Chris Hansen and cameras from the NBC show. Roisman, along with 28 other men, were later arrested.

Roisman's is the only case that went to trial; the other 28 men pleaded guilty.

In his ruling, Judge Wick criticized Dateline and Perverted Justice for their tactics, saying they lacked credibility and used entrapment.

"The axiom actions speak louder than words clearly does not apply in this case," Wick said.

After his arrest, Roisman was kicked out of the Navy and spent a year in jail.

"I'm ready to move on with my life," he said outside the courtroom. "Hopefully the service will take me back."

Roisman's attorney, Stephen Turer, had argued that client did not expect sex with a teenager when he showed up at the house in Petaluma, which was 110 miles away from his own home in Watsonville, and was planning only on "cuddling and watching movies."

But prosecutor Juliette Olson Assistant District Attorney Christine Cook said there was enough evidence against Roisman for a jury to make a decision.

Meanwhile, Roisman's mom, Deborah, said she plans to sue the show's producers.

"They made my son's life a living hell for five years," she said.

NBC has not responded to media requests for comment.
