I am curious if Union workers will still be needed once films go digital. basically it's a big data terminal that downloads it's movies using a satellite from an unlink. No more changing reels. Doesn't seem like much of a future for projector men.

It's correct - digital doesn't need as much work. And this union has proposed to Alameda Entertainment Associates (AEA), the operator of the Alameda Theater, to include language that cuts back on staffing in the event they go digital. But Kyle Conner, AEA owner, still won't talk to the union. It's unlikely that AEA will go digital anytime soon - if he wanted to go digital, he would have invested in digital projection when the theaters opened a year ago.
