Judge it!
I'm thinking of moving to live in Alameda city but have heard about the every day jam at the tunnel and bridge in the rush hours!
Any one know how bad it is? How long regularly it will take to get out of the islands?

Yes, it's an issue. There are currently no plans to add additional access points from Alameda to Oakland, yet there are plans for as many as 2000 or more new homes going up on Alameda Point at the old Naval Air Station.
The local papers, Alameda Journal and Alameda Sun, tend to minimize the problem in their reporting. But you could also try the Oakland Tribune, www.alamedadailynews.com (send Don an email) and you can read what some folks in the community are doing about development at www.actionalameda.org |

It depends on the time that you are going in/out of Alameda. If you are driving in/out around typical rush hour times of 7:30-8:30 am, there is a back up, but not hours, probably about 15 minutes. I used to drive from Fremont into Alameda and had to go thru the Webster tube. I'd say it added on about 15 minutes to my drive home.
I'm from the Chicago area and moved to Alameda 6 years ago. It's a really nice community. Kind of sleepy, but I like it. Great location.

There's no backup at the bridges I use (Park St. and High St.) at 7-7:15 a.m. |
