We down here in Ketchikan are often left out of Alaska news, but we watch it on TV. For the past two weeks, I've heard sketchy stories-- WHAT exactly did they say?? The Nappy- headed Ho [Don Imus] comment was on the national news for awhile. You have 2 white guys in Alaska making comments about our women, and most of us don't even know WHAT they said. Shouldn't their bosses and sponsors have the opportunity of all the feedback they can get before deciding they are 'rehabilitated'? Shouldn't we ALL be given the chance to decide for ourselves whether or not these two are forgiven by the masses they've offended? You know, when they're alone, they're likely relieved, not remorseful at the outcome of it...

Yeah, send Woody and Wilcox out to the bush to see how they live. I've spent many years in many villages and trust me the two DJ's wouldn't come away with a newfound respect. More like disgust for what the people in the bush are willing to tolerate in their lives. Last time I was in Bethel I saw a little kid standing in the stinking urinal at the Alaska Airlines terminal. His dad got him and said "Lets go." And they proceded to walk right by the sink and out the door. Alaskan Natives need to respect themselves more before they get all outraged. People who respect themselves don't do the things I have seen. Seems to me the only ones who get upset are the ones who work at the cultural centers or are in some position of authority. Hence, a native who actually does respect themself and is unwilling to accept slights. But as a whole the Native community needs to step up. Are they going to answer the challenge or choose to just get mad at my comments?

send them to the bush so they can experience rascism first hand tyonek village would be a great first stop for all white folks who have never seen native hating whites.
the bush is full of racist ignorant natives who despise and hate white people that's a fact that is not being addressed here in all this yammering about racism. |
