Free Whilly writes another great victory for Preacher Strickland. The do nothing Senate wimps out on a Roll-Call Vote. The shillin now comes on Thursdays, too.

E-Check = E-Joke
The checkup is a great idea that isn't used to the best ends. Instead of a limited check-up why not require a safety friendy check-up with: brakes check up, lights check up, wind schield check, wiper check and so on. This could be added at a minimal expense but with a maximum result... more road safety. Isn't that an interesting idea???

Why limit the check to cars, lets get city buses, and truck drivers! Personally, any car built after 1990, shouldn't be required to be tested as it already has the necessary polution control devices. However, this is not about e-check, it's about getting Federal funds for highway projects. It's all about money.

We told you not to let your guard down. E-Check is here to stay. The Cowards in the Senate would not even take a standard vote that could be recorded. A blind voice vote was taken, and now this scam is here to stay. That is unless you get off your you know what and to some real fighting. Go to our website for more contacts and get back in the fight. Check back often and don't give up yet. web: catohio.cjb.net

Oh BULLCRAP!!! I am not a fan of E-check, but if you think for a minute anyone in their right mind would believe this pile of crap, you're nuts.

Yeah...someone drives into E-check and "all of a sudden", the brakes don't work. Rrrriiight. If YOU couldn't tell you didn't have brakes, then you're, quite frankly, RETARDED and/or deaf and shouldn't be driving.

E-check is a joke. I easily circumvented it just last month. My charcoal canister is shot. My "check engine" light is on. It has been for a couple of years. I've known this, but it is also very costly to repair (at least $400 bucks). After I had cleaned my battery terminals (something I do twice a year), I noticed my "check engine" light was no longer lit. So I went and took my car for a test -- just to see (since if you're light is on, you automatically fail). I was in and out within 5 minutes AND I PASSED!!!

Clearly a shot charcoal canister, which is a significant emissions component, isn't "that important" to the E-check machines.

That's just one instance of how much of a joke it is. I hope the state is able to pick up the $20.00 tab again next year.

E-check is required to get Federal Highway Funds, and keeps the environment safer for us to breath. Governor Strickland & the legislature are just making sure we keep getting our fair share of Federal tax dollars coming back to Ohio to repair our highways. As long as Ohio pays the cost of the e-Check, I have no problem taking my vehicles for the check. I maintain my autos on their maintenance schedule, so I never have a problem passing the test.

The echeck program was started over 10 years ago and the emissions pollution in this area hasn't changed for the better (using the EPA Nazi's own data). Does anyone here believe that it's working?? If it were working wouldn't the echeck program eventually eliminate itself??? This program is another case of someone making bunches of money by inconveniencing the working slob.

Comeon folks Strickland has already broke the ODOT trust fund, now he needs to find other ways to fund his pet projects, like light rail transit. Projects like the Central Interchange have lost funding...Thanks Gov!

i think e-check would be more 'fair' if EVERY county had it in Ohio....there are factories in other parts of the state, not just NE Ohio....it's interesting that Columbus is not part of e-check....guess they don't want to be 'bothered'....

and i think ALL vehicles should be tested, any vehicle that has a license plate should be tested! Buses, semis, equipment, etc....you want a license plate, it must be e-checked....

and if this is just continued to get federal highway dollars, where's our highway improvements???

This is sort of a moot point when you have maybe 10 counties out of the 88 Ohio counties that only need to do the eCheck. Stark and Wayne are exempt but yet those oil-burning pieces of crap can come and drive the entire length of Summit County on a daily basis, when Summit NEEDS to do eCheck. Then, there are the busses and trucks that pollute the air too that there are no restrictions on.

If you cannot afford to make your vehicle safe to drive, then maybe you shouldnt own the vehicle to begin with? It all comes down to responsibility. You wouldnt go out and have a bunch of kids if you couldnt afford it, would you? Oh wait, nevermind. Answered my own question for a lot of people out there.

They do this in the UK right now. Its called "MOT". They do basic safety tests including shocks, lights, e-brake, exhaust, tires, rims and so forth. They also do an emissions check. I personally do not see anything wrong with it. As long as you keep your vehicle in a safe condition, you have nothing to worry about.

Out of all the things people complain about, this is the stupidest yet. I see all these complaints such as "oh, its too expensive" Well, if you cant afford to keep your car up, THEN TAKE THE BUS. Dont jeopardize me and my familys safety because you dont feel like fixing you HOOPTY RIDE with no brakes and a burnt out tailight. Secondly, i see "oh, the air is everywhere, smelly air comes from Indiana!" Have you driven to Cleveland on 77 recently, or even within the past 50 years? Remember when you cross the "welcome to cleveland" sign? Remember the wall of stink that hits you in the face? No, its not the Browns, it CLEVELANDS SMELLY AIR. Notice where it is, CLEVELAND, not Akron. Smelly polluted air doesnt go THAT far. Also, since some countries in the world dump toxic waste in the rivers and streams, we should be allowed to freely do it here, right? NO, NOT RIGHT. Get a clue. Thirdly, and I'll stop here, Ive been seeing "Its just a scam for money" Well no S%#% sherlock. What did you think, they would administer the tests for free at the expense of the State Govt? If they did, you would then be complaining because your tax dollars are going to waste. Heres a tip. Stop being so cheap. If you dont make enough money, go give your 6 kids up for adoption for all I care. Im sure you receive welfare anyways. So your welcome for feeding your kids for you. I swear. Some peoples kids.
