WAAAAAAA WAAAAAA Call the Wambulance!! Oh my god are you in the wrong profession! You negatively whine about every aspect of teaching. Yes, we all have jobs that we can complain endlessly about, but come on, you chose to teach children. I would have respect for you if you had picked out all the wonderful things about teaching, but because all you did was whine about all the awful things about teaching I have no respect for you. You give teachers a bad name. You should re-think your career.

Mr. Conboy, you and a lot of others weren't paying attention when legislation was passed by Congress starting with Republican initiatives in 1979 on the "get govt. out of our business" platform of the Ronald Reagan when Republican sponsors started dismantling the Glass Stegall Act of 1933 until 1999 when Republican sponsors of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 toasted at a party attended by members of Congress and the Treasury to "R.I.P. 50 years of Glass-Stegall" regulation. Over a period of years this deregulation has allowed banks to merge into New York centric conglomerates whose work ethic now resembles casino gambling. Allowed because small investors like mom and pop's money by hook and by crook was put where they knew it would lose because swaps/derivatives betting allowed some to "win" obscene amounts of money they wouldn't have been entitled to under Glass-Stegall. Even as we speak, they are still awarding themselves huge bonuses and slapping each other on the back as they build multi-million dollar homes in the Bahamas. It's a separate ring of people who, as planned, prosper, and it isn't based on any democratic ideal benefitting the people.

Are you suggesting that George Bush and Dick Cheney were not in power when they did all those things to us?

Or that Gov. Lingle should not be held responsible for the state of our state because she is a Republican?

Why shouldn't Republicans be held responsible, when it happens on their "watch."

If Democrats had been in power for the eight years of Bush rule, you can bet everyone would hold them responsible.

Why is this so hard for people to see? Things financially would be much worse today if Phil Gramm was in as Treasury Secretary.

You are correct about the repeal of Glass Stegall as being the single most significant trigger to the housing bubble which lead to most of the current economic challenges.

But it was a BI-PARTISAN bill. Sponsored by Democrats AND Republicans. Passed by a Democratic controlled legislature.

Bill Clinton. a DEMOCRAT SIGNED IT.

So if you want to study history for blame, at least be honest or everything you say is suspect.

Such allegations will be dismissed as alarmist by many, but critics will have to confront the book's extensive documentation. Its authors are investigative reporters David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry, who have national security backgrounds and solid reputations.

The most controversial part of the book is the relationship between CAIR and the international Muslim Brotherhood, a relationship that has both financial and ideological aspects. The Muslim Brotherhood is highly organized and operates in both public and covert realms. One of its avowed missions is to bring Sharia law to America as one step in the destruction of Western civilization from within.

I tell the trurth...Hawaii is at the bottom of the national educational sacle primarily to poor teaching. That is the biottom line. Teachers need to face what they are and take command of their profession.

You could pay 10 times what teachers now get and there is NO WAY you could get me into teaching.
I can't see how they can stand it...
Especially with all the support everyone is giving them these days. Thankless job.

That can only be fair is once you have a penalty for parents that do not value education. Fail to ensure the kids do their homework and are actually involved in their kids education.

If you say that parents do not have time because they are too busy working - well than they should have thought about that first before they had those kids.

If their religion "requires" that they have kids then that religion should help pay for all those kids and provide FREE tutors.
