3 The only way the Hawaii hospitals have been able to survive over the past few years is from the grants they have been receiving from the State legislature each year. So if Obamacare pays even less in reimbursements, that means that the State has to increase the amount of its grant to the hospitals even more than before. And the State is running out of money so it looks like the additional furloughs or layoffs that will be needed to balance the increasing budget deficit will hurt the State workers even more. Whether the State legislature turns to tax increases or State workers have to take more furlough days or lay offs, the citizens of Hawaii will pay the price of Obama's plan to insure 27 of the 47 million uninsured with his universal healthcare plan. Most of Hawaii's citizens are middle income and they will pay with higher taxes or loss of income. When Cap & Trade is passed and our energy prices increase, we will all have even less money to pay our bills. Hawaii is in for a whole bunch of hurting in the next few years. |

2 Obama wants socialized medicine, and looky here the State and Government already having a hand in telling the hospitals what they can and can't do. They are going backrupt because of it as the article states. Only Fools listen to the Pied Piper |

2 Insurance people are not medical professionals...they are fat swine. Medical services are the troughs...you know..half cut sideways metal barrels full of what appears to be about anything that can be tossed into it. That happens to be you and me. These self-serving swine will do anything to keep their guts full. They are kind of like that freak that had 11 bodies in his house...everyone knew there was a smell, but they were blaming it on the sausage shop next door. All they really needed to do was look at the priors on the pin-headed somewhat strange looking baboon (i.e. insurance companies)and they would have figured it out years ago. People, some medical professionals are onto the stupidity going on in Hawaii, and will not allow themselves to be dumped into a trough to feed a bunch of baboons and swine. Watch, and there will be no amount of incentive to bring them back either. Just watch. ....and that goes for teachers, police officers, social workers, psychologists, librarians etc. |

3 The bigger the hospital's Medicare/Medicaid patient load, the bigger the losses. It's been that way for the last 15-20 years. It's just gotten worse and worse each year. The losses have always been covered by the private insurers, i.e. HMSA, Kaiser, etc. This is why private insurance premiums have been rising faster than the CPI for the last 15-20 years. The Dems health care reform, with the public option, which will mirror Medicare, will only make it worse, possibly forcing some hospitals and other providers into bankruptcy, and docs shying away from government insured patients. |

3 The true problem is not the politicians of either ilk. The true problem are the greedy doctors who charge as much as they want to perform procedures. I don't care how much school (or how many student loans) they have. Stop being so greedy. Their kids all go to private school. Their wives all spend the day at Neiman Marcus. The docs feel compelled to stick it to their patients for as much as they can. Shame on them. |

1 free medical and rising costs will mean more taxation. more taxation will result in total taxation but that won't matter because everything will be provided, government jobs, government medical, government housing, so once all of your money pays for all of the government provisions, VOILA we have a new "system," in america. sound and look familiar? wake up people, the end is near... |

1 I gather that you are one of those without health insurance. Just to let you know, HMSA which covers most of Hawaii's insured, signs up the doctors for their plans and HMSA dictates what the doctors are allowed to charge the patients. The doctors can't charge anything above the rates set by HMSA. So stop misleading readers with your ignorant post which hints at some envy on your part. |

Waht is interesting there are still illegal aliens with bogas documents employed in some of the Hospitals. When is this going to stop? Many have been here for years. Most are of Hispanic background.
