more than about time. I think it would be different if the native Rocky Mtn wolf would have been introduced, but, with the Alaskan 'killing machine' variety, its' a wonder there are any Elk left at all. Fish & Game still sells tags, maximum amounts. Sure they'll take your money, if you're buying into it. Habitat for Nature doesn't work, if all you are purporting is Habitat for Humanity, roads, clearcuts, ect. just more of the same to add to the doom therory

Nature of the killing spree is but senseless. When so much work has been done to improve Elk Habitat, and to insure that elk would be there to hunt, and for future generations... not like buffalo in a field to say they survive or a zoo either.
Everyone who witness's what this particular genre of species, ie: canis lupis arctos is much different than the grey wolf ie: canis lupis.
They are much bigger and consequently have a larger diet, something in their heads think they should kill anything that moves. so it seems.
But, I been wanting to purchase a tag for several years now. Since I know where their killing fields are and migration habits.

We have timber wolves up here in Mn. They can be HUGE, I kid you not! There has been about five spotted right up behind where I live. There are kids outside playing, and have never been bothered by them.

Habituated bears (especially the common black bear)
do the killing of humans, etc. around here. Don't know about there. We've had about three lurking around here at night within the past year.

Mountain lions don't care who or what they kill. Uh.."something" attacked a horse at the throat, and killed it, not far from Grand Forks a couple of years ago. It was determined not to be a wolf.

I had the privledge to see a wolf in MN. I was driving and about 2 feet of snow on the side of the road. Yeah, MN still has the common grey wolf, from Canada or North American grey wolf,

I was trying to identify with the grey wolf sub-specie, the Alaskan Artic Grey Wolf, to my knowledge , was the specie introduced here in the Idaho forests. Killing machines. "oh what big teeth you have"

Yeah, Cougar: Puma concolor , have some claws to hang with, while their teeth shred the artial veins of the neck when they kill, they have some interesting motions when they go to work too...

I was surrounded by over a dozen coyotes once, with a lever action 30.30, iron sights and 7 shots. I always waited to line two up at once then shoot. 2 4 1 is a good return when there is so many. After about 4 shots they want to scatter though. This is when you wish you had one of those ranch rifles .223 or at least a stage coach colt.
I still don't want to find out what it's like to be surrounded by a family of bears or wolves. for any reason. but then, who knows. You don't. One of the wilderness experiences' to live to tell about.

A man in 2002 or 2001, 33 miles northeast of Missoula,MT was taking care of his Elk, when he was attacked and killed by a Griz. That was in the news, papers and such. Wolf sightings and their frequency of reports are up since then.
Clearwater Ntl Forest issued warnings last year up at Pierce, that Grizzleys are in the area, as well as wolfs, but wolfs have been seen and reported by fishermen below the Dworshak Dam chasing deer.

So , yes they are out there and comming to town.
Must be running out of elk to eat.

I will tell you that those wolfs are nothing but killing machines. Each wolf, from study's, has to kill an animal every two weeks. Since there are 950 different wolf packs in Idaho alone, and at least 5 wolfs per pack, the math dictates there are 4750 wolfs... killing 123,500 animals a year.that is where the deer and elk populations are going...down the drain. And anyone who tries to protect these no good eating dogs, are dogs themselfs. I have to admit, at one point in my life, I thought it was novel that the wolfs' were out there. they always been out there, but not the kind of wolfs' that bring down Caribou.

The Great Dog Fight The Americans and Russians at the height of the arms race realized that if they continued in the usual manner they were going to blow up the whole world.

One day they sat down and decided to settle the whole dispute with one dog fight. They'd have five years to breed the best fighting dog in the world and which ever side's dog won would be entitled to dominate the world. The losing side would have to lay down its arms.

The Russians found the biggest meanest Doberman and Rottweiler bitches in the world and bred them with the biggest meanest Siberian wolves. They selected only the biggest and strongest puppy from each litter, killed his siblings, and gave him all the milk. They used steroids and trainers and after five years came up with the biggest meanest dog the world had ever seen.

Its cage needed steel bars that were five inches thick and nobody could get near it. When the day came for the dog fight, the Americans showed up with a strange animal. It was a nine foot long Dachshund. Everyone felt sorry for the Americans because they knew there was no way that this dog could possibly last ten seconds with the Russian dog.

When the cages were opened up, the Dachshund came out of it's cage and slowly waddled over towards the Russian dog. The Russian dog snarled and leaped out of it's cage and charged the American dachshund. But, when it got close enough to bite the Dachshund's neck, the Dachshund opened it's mouth and consumed the Russian dog in one bite. There was nothing left at all of the Russian dog.

The Russians came up to the Americans shaking their heads in disbelief.'We don't understand how this could have happened. We had our best people working for five years with the meanest Doberman and Rottweiler bitches in the world and the biggest meanest Siberian wolves."

"That's nothing", an American replied. "We had our best plastic surgeons working for five years to make an alligator look like a Dachshund."

Have you ever read this book, "Never Cry Wolf" by Farley Mowat? He lived with these wolves and they do eat mice, etc. As you know we are not the only beings God Almighty put on this earth that have to eat to survive. And no, this species is not indiginous to the lower 48's and should not have introduced to Idaho. Who's "good idea" was this?

IT WAS the special ops out of area 51 when they moved the bases to the wilderness zones of Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon. During the Clinton Years, remember when Clinton wanted to expand the wilderness areas? They closed down the roads leading to those areas, and have built bases in the Mountains. Big Deal. But the manner in which they want to keep people out of the forest is ludicrist

IF YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE SITUATION, i CAN NOT SAY ANYMORE THAN WHAT YOU QUOTED.

BELIEVE it or not.

you have seemed to me like a person who is skeptical of the realities that exist on the face of this earth. You live a sheltered life, it shows.

WHAT!!!!
Now that's about too funny! I've lived anything BUT a sheltered life! My life's experiences have been many and greatly diverse. You have been reading too many sci-fi books, etc.

Now I ask you, what in the hail does area 51 have a thing to do with grey wolves or even Artic wolves?

We need "Ludacris" AND Lil' John on here about right now!
