Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone else is bothered by the insanely loud Harley's driving through the neighborhoods in our city. You can hear these motorcycles from miles away. Even in the house, with all (dual-pane) windows closed, I can't hear a telephone conversation when one of these drives by. Of course, it is especially bad on the weekends when they flock by in droves. Also, the Harley shop test drives them and revs up the engines while they drive around. According to the code enforcement office of Temecula, there is nothing they can do about it. Has anyone else tried to deal with this? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I agree!! They have a term for that, Noise Pollution!
If my car was that loud I would be pulled over in a second. There are laws against excessive noise, call the police department!

Good luck. The police in most towns won't lift a finger until the police chief finds himself rudely awakened a few times.

The loud-bike crowd illustrate what's wrong with our society... the "screw you" attitude more and more people have.

What is funny is the reason that people feel the need to turn their cars and motorcycles into noise polluters. They are like little children who are starving for attention. "Hey, look at me, iam cool! my motorcycle is louder than yours!" HAHA, what a joke!

I agree. This is a serious problem and I hope more people will being voicing their displeasure. These riders have nothing better to do than ride around in their modified Harleys and deliberately disturbing the peace. They actually think they are cool? They must have terrible jobs and have nothing to live for except the excitement of irritating the entire downtown San Diego over the weekend. And shame on the shops that modify these bikes! They are knowingly aiding noise pollution and are a nuisance to our community. Shame shame shame.

What "Harley" dealer is in "Sun City"? Maybe the hearing aid is turned up to high? See if you can get professional help on Medicare.

The problem is low IQ. At some point these losers need to grow up and get over their teenage insecurities. Having a loud car or motocycle does not make you cool, nor does it make you tough, it makes you a complete moron. Time to grow up and relaize that you are not the only person on this planet.

Well to be honest motorcycles aren't as pollutant as a car. Loud pipes save lives because they draw attention to the idiots in cars that don't pay attention to where they are going. I would rather have loud pipes, than having someone on a cell phone hit me. Motorcycle organizations raise lots of money for MDA, St. Judes and countless other people in need. Having a motorcycle is a freedom, and if that is taken away, where does it end. Maybe next time, it will be something that you enjoy. If you live in town, expect to hear motorcycles. If you dont want to hear it, go to the country where you can hear the crickets fart.

No one is saying take away your motorcycle, just to limit the noise in creates. The claim that loud pipes save lives is a joke. What gets motorcycle riders killed is their lack of respect for the road. They weave in and out of cars like they own the road, if they obeyed traffic laws they would be a lot better off. Who really is to blame is not so much the riders, it is the lack of police enforcement. The laws limiting motorcycle noise already exist! It is illegal to modify your exaust! It is the complete incompetence of the local police departments to uphold the law that is the real problem.

We need load pipes on out bikes because of the meat head drivers that can see a motorcycle in front of them when they make left hand turns. If we annoy, you know that we are there.

I have to agree here about the noise its really ashame too.My husband agrees also. Its just one of those things we really can't do anything about like the people who pull up blasting their car stereos we can't change that either. Its too bad people don't have respect for others but thats life I guess.

Hey dipshit, in my car is the ONLY place I can't hear your POS bike. I have my stereo up really loud to drown you out like everyone else.

It's not just the Harleys. Have you ever sat in traffic next to some idiot kid trying to pretend he's "50 cent" and blasting out massive bass from some crappy aftermarket subwoofer?

I don't mind a passing Harley. It's a minor irritation. I *do* mind it when it passes by my house at 3 am and wakes the entire neighborhood up.

Just like almost everything it comes down to being considerate.

If your bike is really loud, don't throttle it hard through a suburban neighborhood, especially when others are probably sleeping. On the other side, try not to complain too much because someone drove their bike down the street and it was mildly irritating for 3 seconds.

*Addition* My windows are up, and I listen to Sirius 23 or 21, not 50 cent. I have a very quiet ride, so it's not up loud enough for everyone else around me at the light to "enjoy".

Some of those little "import racers" are just as annoying as the Harley's, but you just don't seem to hear them going at "throttle up" in the middle of the night, like you do the bikes.

If you actually look up the motorcycle noise standards in California, you have something like 81 dB measured at normal running RPM on the #2 lane on a freeway. Yes, bikes get tikets all the time, but when the biker has the bike tested it's well within limits. Some folks get a ticket for having too loud of noise from stock pipes.
Personally, I'm 52 years old. To some I'm ancient, but I love to hear the sound of a well-tuned Harley Davidson shifting through it's gears. It reminds me of freedom. If you stop your whining, you can hear what I mean. Get used to it, the loud motorcycle noise isn't going away.
Join me for a beer at the Whine and Beer Garden in Temecula. I'd love to hear your whine!

Fortunately, the police chief rides a hog, as does most of his colleagues.

get over yourself if you had a harley or even a big loud truck you wouldn't see any problem with it but because you dont...all you wanna do is complain...seriously you cant control what other people do and if it so horrible why dont you move...and what harley dealer is in "Sun City" anyways....find something better to do with your time
