They need a tax at the border itself for all the "commuters" bringing vans filled with kids whose parents pay nothing.

If they did something about all the fraud, class sizes could easily be cut.

San Eli is uneducated and tend to do what they are told by school officials. "It's for the children" mentality still prevails there! Too bad for them. Their situtation is dire ...

San Eli did the right thing. Did you notice that with the additional funding the Canutillo district will NOT reduce class sizes? They will increase salaries! Until the thugs in the teachers unions all over the country realize the world is watching we will continue to see these bonding and taxing initiatives fail. If a tax increases specified that the money would go to reduce class sizes by hiring more teachers at the present (exhorbitant) salaries instead of just jacking up salaries they might see more success. Given the fact that these school districts have the worst graduation rates in the civilized world I'm amazed the property owners don't just close down the damned schools and start over.

You cannot even begin to compare the funding that san eli receives with the funding of some of the bigger districts. look at the properties in san eli's district....do you think that the property values create enough revenue to adequately fund these schools??? they needed that extra money and it is for the children...san eli is not uneducated...being underpriviledged does not mean being uneducated!

I completely agree. I am a graduate of San Eli (1989), currently living in Dallas for a commercial real estate company (property management). It was the education I received that gave me the platform to be able to continue my education elsewhere and be successful. However, San Elizario's educational system is very underpriviledged and limited. It needs all the assistance it can receive to be strengthened and be able to offer much more to the students it now has.

Who's the uneducated one? Do you know the advances that school district has made alone in the past 10 years? TEA Recognized Campus...oh yeah, thats San Eli High. San Eli may be a small community with limited resources, but they are good people. I'm proud to call it my hometown. The people made a sacrifice, and it will benefit all in the long run. Alice, go back in the rabbit hole you crawled out of and stay there.

Another A.C.O.R.N in the ballot box. Why in the hell would anyone vote THEMSELVES a tax increase?? Just can't fix stupid. Oh, well "it's for the children" and the school officials to increase the $$$$$ amounts of their "pocket money". The people who voted are the ones who need to be "educated". Here is a little secret. You never, ever vote for ANYTHING in the El Paso area that will raise YOUR taxes or give politicians, school officals a pay raise. Just money down the toilet. IF you do not understand what exactly YOU are voting on, don't vote or vote "NO".

Someone needs to look at some of the corrupt board members in Canutillo. Especially the one who is currently suing the district. She is a sitting board member and suing the district for wrongful termination, but Canutillo still voted her into office. Amazing!

Canutillo got smart.

Government will always find an excuse to raise taxes if not they will go with toll roads or whatever scam to squeeze the tax payer out of their hard earned money.

Make them cut staff that are leeches in the system make them fiscal responsible. I bet you if you go and see in their expenses they are throwing money like if they were printing it.

Teachers are getting exhorbiant salaries? Where are you living? There is no way that teachers make big salaries especially in small communities like Canutillo. Teachers are there for the kids. There are ALOT of jobs that pay more. Obviously Otis isn't educated.

I think you are right. Teachers don't ever get as much as they deserve. Most of OUR money is scammed at the Districts by the people like Garcia, who does get an OUTRAGEOUS salary, for the amount of so-called "work" that he does. Then we got all the bench-warmers, the "donut dolly's", drinking coffee at the Districts and sit around and BS all day. And they all go home at 3 or 4 PM. Teachers go home at 4 or 5 PM and then have another 2-3 hours "homework. This is where the majority of our taxes go. It doesn't go to the teachers. Garcia and all the "donut-dolly's need to cut budgets, spending and most of all, WASTED tax dollars. Then maybe the teachers would not have to spend their money for extra pencils, crayons, projects, kleenex(for runny noses)or tears, etc. So NEXT time (and we can all believe it will be soon), they come up with more Bonds or a tax increase, we need to follow the lead of Canutillo and say hell NO. It ain't for the kids.

I am a student in San Eli. I believe that those who believe we are uneducated are wrong! We all have potential and determination. We are all unique. This community has a purpose in life. We are small in numbers but big on heart. It is the choices we make that only make us stronger. And the mistakes we make us even stronger. We learn from our mistakes and improve. We are the same as you.

They say that actions speak louder then words. But with these words it can inspire those to take action. And I speak for everyone in San elizario by saying this community is changing and with time will improve. I am a student and i am proud of what this community has shaped me into. Strong both mentally and physically preparing me for the obstacles I will face in reaching my goals in life.

i am not uneducated!!! I do learn and I believe a mind is a terrible thing to waste. San elizario is hard working and takes great actions. They do everything they can for us, the students of San Eli. This community will not fall. We will rise from the ashes and not be told uneducated.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Gemini

It's easy to become distracted and confused because your mind is wandering about in all sorts of different directions. You're also in a highly impressionable state so will believe almost anything you're told now, whether it's true or a total flight of fancy. Be wary of muddling others by only telling them half the story or letting your imagination fill in any gaps.
