She says she has no loyalties, bull$^&! The City of Socoroo is DOOMED, if it has not been already!! Us poor poor citizens of Socorro. Where is Willie Gandara when you need him!!!

Ever since the city was incorporated in the mid 1970s, Socorro has been slowly, pardon the expression for all of those who live open Thunder Road, being washed away by people who weren't even original citizens of Socorro. If it wasn't for the High School Baseball Team wining the State Championship earlier this year, the only news you see or read is negatively about the City Government. And don't get a TV camera around, because Mayor "If I had a hammer" Lopez would surely be getting his airtime. Socorro used to be the area along Socorro Road to Alameda around the Mission. Buford Road used to go from Socorro Rd to I-10, now it goes only to Alameda. We had areas, such as Moon City (AKA Tornado Town), Buford, Cowboy Park. Now Socorro is full of Colonias, which is so Third World. I love Socorro and I am proud to br from Socorro. I still visit often my relatives and friends, but the different breed of people at times are so rude and disrespectful. Socorro has probably the highest taxes in the state but have less services; no real fire department, police are improving but will always be scrutinized for their actions or at times lack of action, no ambulance/medical. Tye speed limit along Socorro Road used to be 35mph, now with more traffic and people, it's 45mph. And don't drive along Apodaca Road going to Pan American, you'll get run off the road by the Euro Racers with their noisy tomato can mufflers. City Council at odds.....and it goes on. The bad part is the original people of Socorro, who really made the city are getting shoved out by new people who really do not understand the "way of life". For those of you who live on Thunder Road adnare always getting flooded each time it rains. If you go back 30-40 years before all these Colonias were built, there were no house on Thunder Road because it always flooded when it rained. When buying a house, you should checked for all the dangers/hazards prior to buying the house. In reality, all that needs to be done, is clean house in the City Government, whomever get elected hopefully can't do any worse. GO BULLDOGS!!! GO MINERS!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!... Why are we going backwards instead of forward??? HELLOOOOOOO people from Socorro!!!! We definitely need to get out and vote on the next election. Why in the world do we have these so called city reps running our city? Anyhow, Mr. Jaime A.(AKA Texas Transplant) I hear ya with what you posted, but we are in the 21st century and need infrastructure in this once small town community called Socorro. You are correct we need a paid full blown Fire Dept and a non theatrical police dept. Socorro will never progress if we keep electing people like the ones we curently have on board.

Now why in the world did they appoint Ms. Fraire as city manager? Yes, grant it she is a local community person, but come on, base it on education and qualifications. I'm telling you, we are going way back instead of forward....

And another thing, what in world is Trini Lopez, doing on the Christina Show, based out in Miami? He was there with the mayor from Juarez, talking about the drug cartel problems....

Hey Trini, did you travel and vacation over there on tax payer money?? HHHmmmmm.. I wonder???

I used to live in Socorro and the simple fact that the city/town wanted to grow has led to the destruction of a great town. With all the colonias and parts of town that are in disrepair it does look like a third rate neighborhood. I do think anybody that is employed anywhere should have the best qualifications of any applicant and not just because they are local makes them the best person for the job. Grow Up Socorro!!

Cox has always been a joke of a character, i feel sorry for the city, so much unrest and squabbling. the only good thing they did was fire the previous city manager Carol whats her name? and the sheriff too. Mr. Soto was a good, and im sorry to hear they will let them go. too bad the council consists of idiots that run and get elected...it seems to be that socorro is a magnet of well you know.

Socorro Texas; a small West Texas town who’s residents deserve better, who’s always looking for handouts from our federal government, who’s arroyos always become breached with every rain storm, who’s local government is always squabbling over the same small scrap of money like children. It’s time for the resident to take back their small community, elect people who don’t want to be lifelong politicians who don’t have clue about governing, or maybe, El Paso should consider incorporating this small area or perhaps Texas should look at relocating the border and give this area back to Mexico.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
