Six charged in drug busts

Local and state law enforcement agencies issued drug related charges to six Creston residents Wednesday.

The following were charged:

Kevin Lee Cottrell, 26, 616 N. Vine St., was charged with delivery of methamphetamine, five grams or more, a class “B” felony. Cottrell is being held in the Union County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Donna Jean Kimball, 38, 504 N. Elm St., was charged with conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, a class “C” felony. Kimball is being held in the Union County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Robert Duane Hayes, 39, 315 W. Montgomery St., was charged with delivery of methamphetamine, five grams or less, a class “C” felony. Hayes is being held in the Union County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Jeff Brown, 44, 407 N. Sycamore St., was charged with delivery of methamphetamine, five grams or less, a class “C” felony. Brown is being held in the Union County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Ronald Dale Brammer, 46, 417 New York Ave., was charged with delivery of methamphetamine, 5 grams or less, a class “C” felony. Brammer is being held in the Union County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Mika Marie Luddington, 26, 701 W. Spencer St., was charged with possession of marijuana. Luddington was released on $1,000 bond.

The charges came after officers from the Iowa Divison of Narcotic Enforcement (DNE) conducted surveillance of drug transactions in Creston. The incidents were monitored and recorded by law enforcement officials.

According to reports compiled from the DNE, Iowa State Patrol, South Central Iowa Drug Task Force, Union County Sheriff’s Department and Creston Police Department the transactions had been ongoing since June.

“The DNE was probably trying to catch as many people before someone got burned (tipped),” Union County Sheriff Rick Piel said.

Interim Creston Police Chief Brian Burkhalter said the department assisted the DNE in searching homes and transporting criminals.

“This is very positive news for our community,” Burkhalter said.“The DNE definitely put a dent in our drug trafficking.”

-One was a Brammer, Luddinton girl, a Cottrell, it's on Cna under police or sheriff reports-not a large article a ways down the page.

I can read it online. Mine says at the top part for selection NEWS and the arrow comes down for you to select local news and that is where I found it. On this page, it also says Online news, but my computer does have it-nothing special. I can read all of it by putting arrow under each subject-it drops down and I select. Sherriff and police reports are two dots on lower part of front page. Keep trying...

This completely sucks you know. Ron Brammer is my father. And his wife, Angie, was arrested to, or at least I thot she was. she is in a treatment facility, does that count as arrest?

the names are always the same. iowa needs a 3 strikes law. then the scum will rot in prison. i dont mind paying for their incarciation if they are not released to continue their lives of sucking the life blood from comunity. also if they are on parol or probation why arnt they peeing in a cup? would that look bad for the people whom we as tax payers pay to monitor these people. the system is there but the people charged with enforcing it are not doing their jobs. a county in nebraska is no longer going to plea bargin, union county should do the same. oh wait the kinnyon monarchy would actualy have to do something for the tax payers other than act like they are.

i am sorry you have to be exposed to this. you deserve to be a child, not the grownup.

Gone and Glad, who are you to judge anybody? Everybody has their faults. DaddysLilGirl, you are such a bright young girl. Don't take any crap off of anybody. Your dad loves you very much. Addictions and mistakes happen, the difference is that you can break addictions, but you can never fix mistakes. So, don't let people tell you that since your father has an addiction, that he is scum. His father and I will never give up on him. Forgiveness is a part of life.

Where am I going to get my weed from now?
