It is most likely because kids are to lazy to get off thier a** to support their school. They would rather be out doing stuff they shouldn't be. We always had fun with pep band.

Thank You! Finally someone else who can see the truth. First of all, Pep band costs NOTHING!! Do you hear me people , absolutely nada, EXCEPT for a band director willing to give time and attention to what is supposed to be his JOB in the first place. They only play at home games . No $ involved. You are so right . Our kids do not go to the Band contest at SEMO. That requires 2-3 months of practice with your band director. We used to have sign up sheets, go 3 X'S a week. We had a dedicated band director in the late 70's and early 80's,( RICK SHELL).We were so excited when contest time came. The same for all county band tryouts.2 nights week prac.We went to ST. Louis and Mizzou, and NEVER missed 1 parade in SE Missouri. He is so proud of himself for lining up the kids to march one block for Charleston Band Contest. Yes , we always do well. Yes, we are always proud of our kids. We always went to the band competition at Jackson every year also. These are experiences our yound people should have the honor of participating in. Why our school board continues to let such a lazy, incompetent person hold this position is beyond me and many other parents. It it shameful. I also agree as far as Drama, and the other programs that have been cut. My child had the privelege of having Lois Vavak and Cindy Gilliland who gave their after school and evening time to put on several plays. The kids really enjoyed it.I did not know track had been cut also. I do know that two golfers went to the state tournament the second year that we had golf. I am pretty sure money was sent to the school to help cover these kids meals and lodging. No money was given to either family and no rooms offered either. I think the MSHAA has recently been informed about that. Maybe they will have to pay back the money. Also , no recognition was given to these boys at all at school. Their "COACH" Mike Redman did not even think enough of them to go with them. Shannon Garner was very nice and accompanied the boys and their families because a coach had to be present at the event. Funny, had that been basketball, they would have raised the roof!! Wouldn't have missed that for the world! It is sadly a lot of the schools fault that a lot of programs are no longer in place because no one really cares anymore. |

Hello... news flash for you. Advance, Missouri is slowly going under. Sadly, many of those there fail to see the end as it approaches.
There are no quality jobs, unless you're born into them... and even some of those have faded. i.e. the local businesses that have closed. The best and brighest kids go off to college... and return only on holidays. Its only a matter of time before blacks discover the cheap housing.... and Advance become another Haywood City |

1 There also needs to be less faculty time on the Internet! You cannot possibly do the job you were hired for if you spend all day on Facebook, Twitter, email, etc. Firing Moses would be an excellent place to start cutting corners. Since he has no interest in band and the children clearly don't either, his salary for doing NOTHING could go toward reinstating some of the other programs that the school can no longer afford. |

when i went to school it wasnt just the teachers that didnt want to do anything it was basically the kids and i was one of them honestly if you have a job and trying to attend school because ur parents do not give you everything... you dont really want to have to go to the school take a night off of work and play in pep band at a basketball game... yeah i went and watched a few games but who wants to go up there when they have there own life and it doesnt revolve around basketball... how many people actually go and watch softball or baseball games.. not many but i dont hear nobody complaining that we need the pep club to also go to those games to considering the fact that the pep club attends volleyball and basketball games i mean honestly get over it
students are less involved |
