Isn't the burden of proof supposed to be on the prosecution, not defense? This seems a bit backwards.

Uh oh, this is gonna stir up the conspiracy theorists, birthers and some teabaggers out in cracker-town.
Seriously, are these people in any way aligned with the Hutterites, a communal religion offshoot of the Mennonites. Or did they just dig the name?

We now have a Napoleonic Code for whomever the government feels it should apply. This entire case appears to be a bogus "show trial" designed to crush and frighten more mainstream forms of protest. I'm going to guess that the most zealous of the militia members was the government informant. That's typically how these things work. I'd also bet that the "killing cops" part of it was just ruminations of potential future scenarios - not an actual plot or plan. I've heard a two minute audio tape of the Hutaree leader rehearsing a speech where he speaks out against the "New World Order." They also claimed to be Christians getting ready to fight the "anti-Christ." My impression is that these folks were just not smart enough to avoid getting entrapped in a bogus "Homeland Security Theater" sting.

My thoughts exactly. I think this is just the beginning of witch-hunts in a society that is getting more and more anti-Christian. BWF wrote: <quoted text> Yes, you are correct.
