I think the City and County should Merge. We have too small of a population to have 2 Seperate Governments. I think we would all be better off to come under one Government that being the County. The City Streets are a disgrace and I think The County would take better care of the City.

I didn't ask about the city and the county merging.

Which I don't see any benefit.

I asked about the city moving the city limit signs.

Mr. DuBose Porter, who owns ALL the surrounding newspapers, obviously thinks that the Dublin paper is the only one that is important. He has cut down all of his small town papers to 1 section. He probably wants most of the papers to be advertising--you know he has to generate dollars to fund his campaign for Governor of Georgia.

He can hang that dream up--Roy Barnes will leave him in the dust!!!!

I was told the city limits were being moved...for some reason to do with Range Fuels...a city Councilman told my husband this...it does not make sense to me and I'm not sure it was handled properly!!! Things like that have to be voted upon. Do all the people living in the area involved want to now be part of the city? Probably not!(City taxes, etc.) Can this be done without taxing the other properties that the move incompasses? These are some important questions!

All around Soperton/Treutlen County things are not being done exactly right.....moving the city limits....June Mason Carter still on the school board...and who knows what all else!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, it gets more interesting! Are the city limits being extended in all directions? If so, I would think it would need to be voted on and or get input from the residents it will affect! if you're inside the city limits...you have to pay city taxes.., etc...

Hmm, it gets more interesting! Are the city limits being expanded in all directions? If so, I'm pretty sure the public should be made aware of it...especially the residents who would become a part of the city...b/c of city taxes and other liabilities to them...

Hmm, are the city limits being expanded in all directions? I still say something like this needs input from the public--especially from residents who will be effected....who would become city residents, have city taxes, etc. to pay...

GA Girl--I heard on like us 221 its just the road & right of way & not the property along side of the road. That way the city has rights to stop speeders & write them tickets!!

Sorry--but from what I heard the property along the roads has not been annexed into the city. I think if they had been they would have to provide city services like city water & trash pickup. I have observed the city police hiding & trying to catch speeders on the extended part though I guess. Not expecting the city limits to be that far out in such a small town as Soperton!!

ROHO and all of this is being done without input or knowledge of the general public! I tell you: it "ain't" right! I've seen the city police doing the same thing! For that matter, they're out at Cowboy Carey's a lot in the police cars....

Ga Girl for people that have to work & unable to attend the meetings to see what is going on. Maybe a committee needs to be formed & have a person attend the city council meeting & also the county commissioners meeting & board of education & then report the true facts without all this I heard stuff we get on here & I have put I heard stuff on here myself but thinking it was the true thing!!

GA Girl: When you see Police cars at Cowboy's, they are there to pick up food or to eat it there. They are not looking for traffic violators out there. Good Lord, what a theory! Everybody's got to eat....even the ambulance crew gets to go out to Cowboy's for a bite--they aren't always looking for someone in distress.
