CORRECTION: "Liberal Lutheran elites of the ELCA SECT move toward more open view on gays." Not your Mom & Dad's Lutheran Church. Not by a WIDE shot. Visit their squishy website and you will learn that these people are basically the Lutheran version of Catholic "Liberation Theology." But, hey, THANK YOU Cowpie Press for trying to mislead into falling into your secular-humanist grasp of the human condition. It is what we have come to expect of your "news" outlet.

I don't know what you're smoking but I left the Lutheran Church after more than 40 years of faithful church-going, mainly (but not exclusively) because of their seemingly interminable discussion about their acceptance of gay people in the church. Your mischaracterization in this post, seemingly saying that they have thrown the Lutheran Church's doors wide open to homosexuals is NOT true. I have been watching the proceedinges each day live via the web and NO changes regarding gay people in te church have been adopted. Gay people are STILL banned from the clergy. What is it that you're smoking ???

Tornadoes in freak weather incident at 68 degrees, no rain and no thunder zero in and drop on ELCA gay-loving convention. Hundreds of thousands of square miles that could have been hit and it hits here. Just a conicidence? Of course. Ya right!!

I'm more worried about the Afghanistan election, Al Quida, Iraq, and North Korea. America will be in perpetual "war" mode for maybe a 100 year time frame. This is news worthy.

Oh please! Tornados can occur anywhere. No one was hurt according to what I have heard. And, I haven't heard anything about the Lutherans attending a gay-loving convention. Even so, I still hope that they decide in favor of gay clergy and same gender marriage.

There are more than 1000 people attending this churchwide meeting. Don't you think that if a tornado DID strike at this church meeting that it MIGHT be reported on FOX or CNN or sme other legitimate news service ? The reason it hasn't been reported is because if DID NOT HAPPEN.

Hey Danny boy the good Doc doesn't smoke ......you will just have to take it on faith...like when we tell you that the Minneapolis convention center was hit by a tornado today . "Those overcome by lust are punished in this circle. They are the first ones to be truly punished in Hell. These souls are blown about to and fro by a violent storm, without hope of rest" sounds a little like a tornado ya think

Even so, I still hope that they decide in favor of gay clergy and same gender marriage. You're right, the fact that the tornadoes occurred without virtually any warnings, in 68 degree weather (not normal) with no thunder (not normal) and dropped on that part of Minneapolis (when they could have dropped on any one of hundreds of thousands of miles of land) is purely coincidental. Those tornadoes could have fallen on anybody's gay religious convention. Right. It's purely coincidental.

Your internet PhD is serving you well as usual. "The Lutheran version of Catholic Liberation Theology"? There was this guy named Martin Luther. He was a Catholic. He said "the Catholic church (pope) is full of BS. He is the founder of the Lutheran Church. Yes, the Lutheran version of Catholic Liberation theology indeed. Go back to asking your masters bidding.

A meteorologist said the tornado came out of nowhere. The only cross on the giant ELCA church across the street was not untouched, it was not knocked off--THE CROSS WAS LEFT HANGING UPSIDE DOWN. Minutes later, a statement that condones sex between people whose genitals are the same is passed by 1 vote. The winning margin: 66.6 percent. Really? Precisely THAT number? What are the chances? I suppose if a person were inclined to believe that there is a living God who cares enough to warn his people in advance to avoid behavior that is bad for them, they might take it as a sign. But it is probably just a coincidence.

Dr Frank Lippenheimer wrote: Not your Mom & Dad's Lutheran Church. Not by a WIDE shot.. If it were intellectually and theologically honest, the ELCA would drop the "Lutheran" from its title: "Luther seldom mentions homosexual behavior. But when he does, his evaluation is always negative. For example, Luther identifies the sin of Sodom with homosexuality. Commenting on Genesis 19:4-5, he writes "I for my part do not enjoy dealing with this passage, because so far the ears of the Germans are innocent of and uncontaminated by this monstrous depravity; for even though disgrace, like other sins, has crept in through an ungodly soldier and a lewd merchant, still the rest of the people are unaware of what is being done in secret. The Carthusian monks deserve to be hated because they were the first to bring this terrible pollution into Germany from the monasteries of Italy." "In the same section of the Genesis lecturers, Luther refers to "the heinous conduct of the people of Sodom as extraordinary, inasmuch as they departed from the natural passion and longing of the male for the female, which is implanted into nature by God, and desired what is altogether contrary to nature. Whence comes this perversity? Undoubtedly from Satan, who after people have once turned away from the fear of God, so powerfully suppresses nature that he blots out the natural desire and stirs up a desire that is contrary to nature." "Luther’s rejection of homosexual activity is not merely a matter of aesthetic preference but rather a theological judgment rooted in the reality of the way the wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness that will not acknowledge God to be the Creator and Lord that He is. For Luther, homosexuality is a form of idolatry, of false worship as we see in his lectures on Romans." Luther must have seen today's apostate ELCA coming: "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." -MARTIN LUTHER
