It's quite plausible that 70 people (10 registered voters from the 7 wards) could be found to support this expensive process. But in light of the economic constraints Pittsfield currently endures, I wonder if the majority of it's citizens desire this recount that will probably cost the city tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars? As Mr. Bianchi expressed much concern over Pittsfield's economy during the mayoral race, will he be paying for any portion of this expensive endeavor? No, it will not even cost that much. Less then 2,000 dollars, less money then what the Mayor spends on giving those awards at the council meetings.

What about the shenanigans that went on before the election that the recount cannot uncover. We all know that JR wanted to be re-elected in the worst way and nothing was standing in his way - especially the laws.

The Mayor took a well needed and deserved vacation. Losing your wife and mother in the last few months and then to deal with a very contentious election, no one deserves a break more than the mayor. See you all at the Beacon Theater, which I am pretty sure Dan did not support. Actaully Dan and anyone else who pays taxes supported the STANLEY theater. Because it was paid for with taxpayer money honey. The mayor does not want to even discuss that part of the theater. Ask him if you can see the financial breakdown on this project.

it is not uncommon for recounts to be automatic when there is such a small margin of victory.
it is completely reasonable for bianchi to request a recount, especially when there were indications prior to the vote that he had enough support to win.
if bianchi winds up winning, it won't be proof that ruberto rigged the election, just that the counting process was flawed.
in any event, if the total is at all different, in either candidates favor, it should be a wake up call that our election/vote-counting process is flawed.
