Good I hope your stupid skin falls off you white trash skank! On the other hand no one forced that lady to buy the drugs. It's her own stupid fault.

that girl was a drug addict way before her friend hook her up with those pain meds, and didn't tell her hey try doing all at once it the best, and what doctor perform breast surgury on a addict!!!!
you don't have that much pain, her friend was doing what all other friends do that do drugs, and she didn't make it. that the game!! and she lost. giving her 3 years doesn't make any sense, her mother should of tried to help her drug addict daughter. |

This is probably the most dangerous drug out there. People are ripping the patches open and doing 3-4 days worth of synthetic morphine all at once. Anyone who sells this or gives it to a friend is taking a helluva chance.

Some doctors can now treat painkiller and heroin addiction in the privacy of their office with a monthly prescription of buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex). This suppresses the cravings and withdrawal so patients can do the other important things needed to recover.
TreatmentMatch.org is a free service from the non-profit organization - National Alliance of Advocates for Buprenorphine Treatment (NAABT.org ) it is a confidential way to find doctors certified to treat opioid addiction in their office. Bupe is abuse resistant and has a ceiling to its effects making accidental fatal overdoses unlikely. It also blocks other opioids for days, and is not euphoric to people tolerant to opioids. It has enough opioid effect to stop cravings and withdrawal allowing the patient and their family to make the necessary changes that will translate to sustained addiction remission. Learn more about buprenorphine at www.naabt.org or talk with patients who have used it at www.AddictionSurvivors.org |

Thanks Nancy for that bit of useless information. It's always nice to learn about drugs that replace other drugs. How about this just quit cold turkey and live a healthy drug free productive life.

the info is actually good, as not all people can quit cold turkey. addiction to these pills is fierce, & the withdrawal agonizing. however, i feel that the drug should be implemented in a contolled environment (rehab) where the patient can make the most of getting clean & resolving the reasons why they got addicted in the first place. but i do agree with you. people rely too much on pills these days to make themselves feel better, & they never learn how to rely on themselves. so sad. |

People who fall I'll to addiction are weak.(isn't one of the steps admitting that you're powerless?) society will always have addicts. I'm not living in a fantasy world. We need the addicts they creat jobs. But a select few (like myself) will over come and be free. It's like everyone wants a weight loss pill right? But no one wants to excercise and eat right, right? There's no cure all your mind, dedication and support is what you need that's all I'm saying another drug isn't the answer. But I understand how a brainwashed mind would find that helpfull.

Dawn should not be held responsible for the death of that woman.It was her own choice to take the drugs and due to the fact that she overdosed,She didnt use the patch properly in the first place.Obviously Dawn should not have sold her the patch but to say she is directly responsible for her death is bull.
Here's an idea, Why doesnt Berkshire county finally realize that we have a growing drug addiction problem here and start offering ways to help these people.And the Jones3 ward doesnt count as significant help. Its a 2 week program.Most addicts need more than 2 weeks to beat an addiction. Why not get a methadone clinic here.Most people addicted to pain killers and heroin dont go for help because its too far away. The nearest clinic is in holyoke.And the nearest doctor who can prescribe Suboxone is in new york state.In most cases it would cost more to get to the treatment centert than it does to get high. And to anyone ready to say I dont want a methadone clinic in my neighborhood because it will bring addicts to the area. Guess what! They are already here and we probably have more than you think.But im willing to bet they would be less of a threat to the community if we had a clinic. |

well you & i have one thing in common - overcoming on our own something that could've taken over our lives. i won't get into it, but i consider myself fortunate enough to be able to say "ok, that's enough" ... and i stopped. i agree with you for the most part, but weakness just doesn't happen overnight, it's the result of poor guidance. parents too often don't let their children suffer consequenses or teach them boundaries & how to cope with what life throws at them. they're either too busy dealing with their own messes & medicating themselves to pay attention to their kids ... or they're running around behind their children like a streetsweeper behind the horses at a parade so they don't experience any aftereffects of their behavior. the result is self centered & weak minded adults who are unable to deal with life, & turn to addiction to numb themselves ... & fail to realize that pain is part of the beauty of life. when they're too far gone, they need all the help they can get to set themselves free (with the exception of methadone - that's like replacing hard liquor with beer)... which is why MDs shouldn't just throw a prescription at someone without it being used in conjunction with intensive counseling. |

im going to have to defend the suboxene, only from personal experience. The difference here though is I really didnt choose to be addicted to pills. I had to have two major back surgeries, and was placed on opiate pain killers for over a two year period, and still was being perescribed them, but i would go some days after this two year period without taking any pain medication, and the withdrawls were the worst feeling I;ve felt, so I finally seeked fhelp because I didn't want to be sick and in the pain and discomfort that comes with the withdrawls, and if youve never been there ull never understand the severity of it, I only took suboxene for a week even though it was prescribed for a month, and after a week of treatment with it, and using it in the proper manner, i was able to also stop taking the suboxene, and with the grace of god and the help from the suboxene i was able to return to a normal life of not waking up and instantly feeling the side effects of not taking a pill, so for those of us that choose to use the program appropriately, it is a great help. Although I do know and see people that just use and abuse the suboxene to maintain a high, because whether admitted or not, if u sniff it instead of putting it under ur tongue and letting it dissolve as ur suppose to do, you can mantain a pretty serious high, I do not know this from personal experience but have heard through other people. So in reality, it all really depends on the person who is taking it and what their motives are with it. But as for me, it was the little help I needed to finally put the pain killers too rest. And no matter the severity of the pain I still experience in my back due to rods and screws, and the need for a third back surgery, I refuse to use opiate pain relievers, on Ibuprofen, because as I said in the begginning withdrawing from opiates is no picnic, and whether some of you realize it or not, in cases, death can occur from withdrawing from opiates.

good points ... thank you for sharing. |

I was told that you can;t die from detoxing from opiates. But, you can feel like you want to die.
Is this true that you can die from it? Or was I misinformed? Thanks |

I think the out come on the Dawn Coty case was not right. You could get up to 20 years for manslaughter and she only got 3 to 6 years. What about the time for dealing the drugs. I thought we could trust the system to do the right thing. Keep her off the streets for a long time and send a message that people can't take advantage of people that are hooked on drugs. Her mother had her on a program and was trying to help her to quit and Dawn undermined the whole program. If you are only going to get 3 to 6 years if you sell drugs and some one is going to die what the hell. She was making good money. She even went out and bought a safe... Very disappointing.... We have to start cracking down on the problem... Our country is going to fall to drugs...

It is a very dangerous drug, more for "comfort measures". I had a relative who was put on it the night she died. Her blood pressure tanked to 50/20. They switched her back to vicodin and her blood pressure returned to near normal. My point is this, it's an EXTREMELY dangerous drug. And to you people out there who do it, DON'T!! Just because you have the will to wake up tomorrow and want to live, doesn't mean your heart wont give out. It's not worth the game of russian roulette you are playing.
|
||||
Yeah right, you are delusional. If they would of given her a 20 year sentence do you think ONE person is going to say gee I am going to stop dealing or gee I was going to start dealing drugs, but after that verdict no! It's the woman's fault who OD'd, the woman dealing should have been sent to jail for dealing drugs illegal and that's it. So with the sentencing, no matter what the verdict was, she got a drug dealing sentence. Even her mother was trying to get her help? What does that mean? Unfortuntately she got one permanent solution to her problem.. death. That happens to be consequence of doing drugs like that. Just like if I had a problem speeding and driving like a maniac. Let's say is a compulsion disorder of mine. Everyone, my wife, friends, and even my mom, tried to get me to stop. But my friend let me borrow her car and I drove it all crazy into a tree. Guess what? That is a consequence of driving erractically and crazy, my addiction. Whose fault is it, my friend, who gave me the car and KNEW I couldn't drive it properly? |
||||
A game of russian roullette where all the parties involved in playing know the risks.. believe when when you do drugs like that, Dawn has probably thought she was going to die a hundred times before that. I have been there, I know. |
