Can anybody put the article that was published on here it seems the upstanding people and involved parents of Bartowlife.com and cartersvilletownies.net didn't know anything about this. Thank God we have some people in Bartow County that actually get involved it what goes on at their child's school. My child does not go to CHS but does attend WHS and has many friends at all the schools. Although I'm glad some parents caught this major oversight of the schools printing of this news letter and I would hold the school totally responsible for this in legal actions, I think it was handled in a very wrong way. The young lady that wrote the article was not right in anyway but where was the guidance and leadership? I hope her parents bring it down hard on CHS staff. Her attitude was more than likely influenced by her parents but the printing was the schools fault and responsibility.
I would love to see the real article, the opinion is probably about the same as the rest of us tax paying citizens, so yes I am curious if it was a true article just not appropriate for a school paper.
Thank you.

I would like to know the thoughts of this teacher at CHS Joy Leapheart posting taking sides and posting this young girls name on her post on Cartersvilletownies.net . I think she is in favor of division in the school and seems to of encouraged in someways her class to speak up instead of turning the other cheek and not stooping to the racist levels of this situation. She doesn't appear to be a stable teacher and I am relieved to know my children don't attend CHS right now, of course WHS has it's own problems too. Thanks

I appreciate the kind words. I intended for my post on Cartersvilletownies to be informative. It was in response to several posts inquiring about the nature of the situation at the school yesterday--it was not my intention to stir the pot. I suppose that some people thrive on that sort of thing. I, however, do not. If you read my post, I think it is quite clear that I discouraged the protest. I made that quite clear. I talked to each of my classes about the rumored protest and encouraged them to not participate in it. I, instead, tried to redirect their interest in it in a different, more rational direction. I encouraged students to respond to the article in writing in the same way that adults respond to articles in other papers in the form of letters to the editor. That is a healthy and good thing for students to do. Encouraging students to silence their responses would only lead to more anarchy, I believe. Moreover, if this student had the right to express herself, don't the students targeted in the article have a right to express themselves? Freedom of speech is a shared right.

I did state the author's name because it will be printed in The Daily Tribune, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, and is likely to be on Channel 2 news. It is not a secret. Apparently, the student is actually quite proud of the article and would be the first to share her identity in relation to it. I did not intend any harm in that. I didn't, in fact, direct any blame at her. I think her supervising teacher failed her.

I think Cass is a very good school and this event is a testament to that. There is healthy dialogue going on right now amongst students and it has been a good opportunity for me, personally, to talk to students about the power of the media. It has been a catalyst for my students who hate writing to become suddenly aware of the power of it. I've asked them to look at other issues that are influenced or shaped by how they are perpetrated in the media.

I don't really understand how anything I wrote translates into me being unstable, though everyone is entitled to their opinion (thank goodness, right?). It is my only hope that this event will lead to cleared lines of communication in the school, which is seemingly what is happening. The article provided a wonderful opportunity to discuss with students current events, the dangers of stereotyping, the power of the media, and the proper way to respond to written "attacks."

I don't have an electronic copy of the article, but I can scan it and provide it to those interested. I'm not sure if I can attach a scanned image to a post, so it may have to be emailed. Let me know.

I have to agree on the maybe your not stable. You took it upon yourself to beat the press to the release of this child's name to everyone. It has made me think maybe your jealous the media didn't interview you or something? I don't know how informative your post was or was meant to be but it sure has your opinion all over it. Names are mentioned in sport articles as a positive. The teacher that sexually assaulted the the kid not long ago got more respect than this child. I would love to read this article, if it is so bad will it be in the tribune? Seems like that would be a good way to start some trouble in Bartow. I'd like to know just if the article is true not just because it insults a group. How come I don't see all the teachers that I know post under names defending you? Even if your post are right or wrong I think you should of waited to release your thoughts then they might of looked more like you were praising your Hispanic Class for the way they handled it. You have even gone as far as to not defend the teacher who supervised this child. Shouldn't you be standing by one of your own and the school system? I don't know what it is but something about you just doesn't jive.

Satan I am curious, who's name do you yell when you have an orgasm?

CT is all over this subject. I somehow doubt we'll ever see the original article the student wrote.

Townie told you to STFU? Who does she think she is? Just because the Bitch runs the board doesn't mean she can just treat people like dirt. I bet she came in drunk and in one of her bitchy moods, got on and decided she ruled. She is and has always been a mean drunk know it all. Are you kicked off? I see now you disagreed with her. You should of known better. Haven't you learned by now that you can't have a different opinion on that board and no discussion on anything without getting slammed. You have to think like that bitch Townie or Msbehavin and big. A bunch of drunks. Lottie I wonder about you and the abuse you like to take from those idiots. You are better than that. And stay away from that damn two-faced Sunny, she is not a friend of yours and she's not really a friend of anybodies. She is always sending pms to people talking about you anyway. She is two-faced as they come.

One thing I'm curious about is, why is this teacher, Joy Leaphart, so interested in posting this subject on here and on CT? What is her agenda? This just seems odd.

Now that is a real good question and why not on Bartowlife? Has anyone found it on the news cast? Has anybody seen the article? Has she really sent it to anybody? The whole thing is starting to smell.

I agree. Something is not right here but I don't know what it is. This person, Joy, seems driven to have this story plastered all over the place. My question is, why?

I doubt the article will be sent to anyone. If it is as tragic as this Joy person says, why hasn't it been in the newspaper yet?

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Capricorn

You're feeling edgy as Mars moves into reverse, and it won't be long before people start to get on your nerves. You might get very irritated by someone's funny little habits, yet feel you daren't say anything in case you go overboard. Or you could get very annoyed when someone blurts out something that was supposed to be a secret but which quickly becomes common knowledge.
