Give me a break, first we let to many foreigners into the country, now we are paying for not only legal immigrants but I'm sure illegal foreigners as NO ONE IN OUR GOVERNMENT listens to what people want, now we are giving them 1.3 MILLION and laying off people who LEARNED AND OR SPEAK ENGLISH ALREADY ON THEIR OWN in the state when 1.3 MILLION could save state jobs, or go toward stabilizing the state so that when we elect a NEW GOVERN maybe one with 1/2 a brain versus none we can reduce the tax back to 5% and stop losing so much money to NH, who gets an enourmous laught from our governors folly if the signs tell you anything.

Funny, I was thinking the since we are paying ENGLISH SPEAKING CITIZENS to tutor their non- English speaking neighbors, that would be a perfect way to help the ENGLISH SPEAKING CITIZENS earn money!

Now more ENGLISH SPEAKING CITIZENS will have jobs....and people are complaining.
What jobs do you want the gov't to create?

Jobs for American citizens that does not fund money to immigrants or illegal immigrants. Funny I never included immigrants before but the outrage I feel towards illegals and visas has spilled over.

If we go back to our ancestors, we will be able to see how many of them were also immigrants, and because of them and their hope to be part of this Nation is why many of us are called US citizens. There are many illegal or legal immigrants who come here to work and give to society. Many of them even take jobs that a big number of US citizens will not take. A great number of US citizens move to other countries and get the help they need to learn that country's language; on the other hand, a lot of people from other countries already know English and try to make the life of English speaking individuals easier while living in their countries. When programs like this are created, more English speaking citizens will have jobs. We should be happy to know that programs like this one will open doors to others who need to learn Ennglish and have a better life. Remember, many who have been born here do not even take opportunities or even motivate children to educate themsleves for a better future.

The ...our ancestors.... story as it relates to the current overflow of foreigners isn't working as a convincing line anymore. Oh, how about ....our ancestors came here for a free society free of taxation....ya right that worked, times have changed and we need to move past this type of argument and see that while some immigrants bring benefit the overwhelming majority are destroying this country and making it a cesspool like the country they left behind.

My comment is not a line to convince anyone about anything at all. You and me are here because of those immigrants who came here for one purpose or another. We are here due to the fact that others before us came here, if not, I assure you, you will be that "foreigner" you are pointing out. Regarding those who are destroying this country...look around. I bet you have as I do, and many others, family members or very close friends (citizens) who are trashing our country. The important thing here is to understand that this country as many others, open their doors to new people; different people; different races. That is only possible because we cannot survive without diversity. Oh, and regarding the "free society" it is my opinion (and looking at facts) that this nation is not that of a "free society"; we live in a capitalisim that serves the ones with power and fortune and pushes down everybody under them. What makes USA a great nation is that it grew to be a "melting pot". The ones who survive here (no matter if they are USA citizens or not) are the ones who work, take opportunities and teach others. Do you really think that this is the only nation others look for to go to? I do not think so.

Judging from your butchery of the English language, maybe we can get you signed up for those classes.

Ironic.

I agree. For those that suggest that immigrants learn to speak English on their own, I would ask them this: did they learn to speak English on their own or did someone teach them? Would they rather that people NOT learn English?
English is one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world. It requires formal lessons AND discipline and practice at home. There's no other way about it. Many immigrants who can't speak English very well admit that they would love to learn to speak better English, but can't find the opportunity.

Wow, judging from your own English writing skills, maybe they'll let you sign up for those lessons yourself if you're lucky.

You can't make assumptions like that. My ancestors didn't. They had a hard time when they came from Italy. My grandfather was always embarrassed of his English, even though he worked hard all his life and operated a thriving business that employed dozens of Americans. If you're worried about your job being taken away by "newly english-speaking people", then maybe you should increase your own skill set as well.

So is that your excuse? Work your butt off and take out loans like the rest of us. Not many people are getting a free college education these days unless they are extremely intelligient and get a scholarship. People who sit around waiting for a handout are the ones who get laid off and then blame others for their problems.

So, there. You said it. See how difficult it is to be discriminated? THere is a time for everything and everybody. Stereotping hurts a lot. SO, you (according to your words) are upset because you say that there is no grant for you, because all the money is given to minorities. Let me tell you, with my experience working with some higher educational Institutions and grants, there are hundreds of grants for OUTSTANDING students (USA citizens. If you do not know how to look and how to be OUTSTANDING, it is a big, huge excuse.

The same guys who complain that immigrants don't learn English are complaining that more courses are being made available to do just that?! You have lost what little credibility you had.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aries

There's a lot of tension in the air, with certain people poised to spit the dummy, as Mars turns retrograde in your fifth house of romance, children and speculation. Confrontations are likely. If these are nothing to do with you and you just happen to be directly in the firing line, your best bet is to make yourself scarce. But if you are responsible for their outraged feelings then you need to face the music, otherwise things will only get worse.
