There use to be a little restaurant in Confluence. I can't think of the name of the place! There is a beauty shop there now. It was near where the Post Office is and on the same side of the street. Does anyone remember it's name?
I started this topic for those, like me, that are interested in Confluence of years ago. Maybe just to chat about a place that is gone or for someone trying to remember something about a place that is gone.

I think that the restaurant you are thinking of was Brown's. They had the best food and the baked hoagies were huge!! They were at the old auction house too, but not sure which place they were at first.

Yep and the thing is, you can't eat the atmosphere so give me good reasonably priced food any day of the week!

Not big selection but they had shoes. And on west side Walt Bowers little store. He sold lunch meat I think ... I'm not sure but they use to have a store owned by Walt Bowers. My brother bought me a pair of (what was called) go-go boots lol.

I don't remember Angus Strakies. What did they sell?

I DO remember Walt & Mae Bower's Store on the West Side of town. My parents bought me a pair of 'saddle shoes' there. The white & black shoes that were popular way back when HA!

Prema Bowers dress store, where was that one located?

I DO remember Kennedys store/restaurant. I had forgotten all about it so thanks for bringing that one up.

I remember Kurtz's store too. I *think* it was where Kennedys was, before Kennedys.

Didn't Joe Holt run the Culvert Gas Station?? I think Joe works at Hartmans now.

Ohhhhhhhhhh.. the Movie Theater and the gal that sold the tickets! What a memory THAT is!

Yes.. I've skated, or tried to, over at the Laurel Hill skating pond.

Anyone remember the lumber company that was behind the Culvert Gas Station??

I remember the old Acme. It was where Beggs Printing is now.

Golly, now my brain is kicking into overtime. I'm sure I'll think of more places in my memories that I'll surely share or have questions about.

I thought that the Acme store was where the Foodmart is now. It was Foodland for years and then it shut down in 2000.
Remember Charlie Hyatt's barber shop? It was down past the bars, right beside Mountain Grill I believe.
Remember Chub's video shop?

Acme store was where Foodmart is now, but previously to that it was in the location of where Begg's Printing is now. However, Beggs Bros used to be by the culvert originally.

Prema's was located, if I'm remembering right, beside the funeral home & I believe A. Straka's store was near where Foodmart is now.

Whew, this is taking some thinking!

Oh yeah....the post office in Harnedsville was run by Mrs. Zufall. Do you remember the groc stores in Harnedsville? Harold Keslar's & Ream's which later became Wirsing's. It later burned down & was rebuilt. Do you remember Conkey Clark's barbershop?

One more: wasn't there a store/filling station near the lumberyard owned by Phelps?

Anges Strakies store was beside where the Patton's lived on Williams street. Same block as Foodmart just at the other end of the block. It was torn down a long time ago. It was 2 buildings up from the Christian church on the left side of the road.

Yep. Charlie Hyatts barber shop, another one almost forgotten about. Then, not far from Charlies Barber shop was Nace's Chevrolet. I can't remember who owned it before Leroy Nace.

There was a lumber yard on the 'stretch' going from Confluence to Harnedsville too. It was on the right side of the road going toward Harnedsville. Don't remember who owned that one either.

Also, there was a place that sold pizza near the culvert. I think Sam Bass's brother ran it. Sam was one of the town cops YEARS ago.

There was a beer distributor owned by the Rascona's and also, I believe, a bar use to be where the VFW is now that was owned by the Rasconas. I can remember my folks saying that they remember seeing Mrs. Rascona up along the hillside by the railroad tracks, milking her goat.

How about the OLD JAIL!! It was near the park somewhere, possibly where the community center is, although I'm not for sure.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
