I attended the much promoted AC RV show at the AC Convention Center today. Being from out-of-town ( PA ), this was my first trip to the CC.
The entrance to the underground parking garage was not well marked. Once parked ($12 for 4 hrs min), the signs directing you to the show floor were poor. Once inside , it was unclear that you had to get your ticket on one floor and that the show was on another. Upon entering the show...there were a total of about FIFTEEN vedors. One sold life ins, one sold HOME bath tub surrounds. After going through the entire hall...there were abount 10 Class A's, perhaps about 8 Class C's , 1 class B, maybe 10 small trailers ( 4 were R-pods and were alomst identical. There were a fair amount of big trailers and 5th wheels. There were no popups ( yes they are still used) and only a few expandable trailers. A LOT of people have smaller tow vehicles and want/need smaller trailers ... not the big TT's and 5th wheels !! Prices were HIGH. Again compared to both Hershey and Timonium. Overall there may have been 125 units on display , NOT the 350 they advertised !! A person wearing show credentials told us that only NJ dealers were allowed ! WHY ?? She acknowldged that the show was " small". After having been to the Hershey PA show ( THAT IS THE ONE TO GO TO !!!) and the Timonium MD show , this was pathetic. It's $10 per person to get in plus parking. So for 2 people , you will spend $32 for a small , poorly represented show. We shall not ever go back to AC for any RV show. I suggest that you consider the same. FYI. |

I didnt get a chance to get to the show but I can tell you that recent shows throughout NJ, Pa and Ohio were no better. The RV industry is in shambles with very litle sales occurring and massive cuts made at all manufacturers. RV travel like gambling is seen as something people do with their extra income. The past 2 summers we noticed a significant decline at some of the campgrounds we visit. More people are choosing tents over campers or RV's and we witnessed more people setting up multiple tents at the rented sites.
As for the AC show I never cared for it because of the issues you mentioned but I would say the old Valley Forge show and others around Pa and NJ charged you for every little thing like AC. b1 |

You should try shows at the Javits center in NYC, Park your car $36+ if you can find a spot near by. Most Public shows $60 or more. then try and get your car out of the lot at least an hour for the guy to find it. |

But then this is A/C who is chasing ALL business out!!!

The Hershey PA show was HUGE. We ended up going back a 2nd day to see everything.
At Hershey parking was FREE. The admission fee was I believe $5.00 per person. The representative dealers were MANY and there was every kind of RV imaginable , there were many hundreds of units there. Look for their next show in the Spring before wasting time at small RV shows like AC. |
