slots in ac have a historic low payout since thier debute!
Slots!!$5.00 machines disguesed as penny machines no longer fool the average player.
jackpots have dropped to a historic low!
more bad news!! Slots will no longer pay out mega millions!! they will be linked by state by state and the odds of ever winning will be cut to near zero!!

What I don't understand is why so many people continue to play slots. The odds weren't great before and apparently they are even worse now. If the average slot has a 95% payout rate, that means the house advantage is 5%. Compare that to blackjack where the house edge is just 0.8% or craps where it is 0.6%. If you just want to pay to be entertained by the lights and video screens, I suppose that's fine, but if you actually hope to win anything, the likelihood of that happening at a slot machine is pretty low. Of course, the same could be said for roulette where the house edge is 5.6% I think, and those tables always seem pretty crowded.

wrong wrong wrong
slots always had a edge of super jackpots, compared the lowley tiresome play of blackjack and craps. the point is that sltos have tightened up to a historic level

<quoted text>People play slots because of the excitment of possibly putting up a 3 or 5 dollar bet and winning many thousands of dollors. Unlike blackjack if you bet 25 dollars you win 25 dollars or a little more if you get a blackjack. There is not as much excitment in tables are there is in slots. I saw a woman playing a Red Baron machine for 50cents and she won 1,400 dollars. Quite a big win for a small bet. When the machine locks and the bells go off its very exciting. Thats what makes people play slots....

This surprises me slots can be tightened or lossen by the casinos. Always thought the payout % was what it was programmed to be.

My thoughts were when people were complaining about how "tight" the machine are was because there wasn't enough play on them for the "house" to get THEIR programmed "wins".

I don't know if Jewish and Princess should be used in the same sentence!

I think the older wheel machines were made with a chip and couldn't be adjusted. Why do you think they are all computerized now?

Then I can't imagine why ANYONE would want to plunk their money into machines that can be "adjusted" on a whim of a casino. Doesn't seem right to me. Isn't this is what the Casino Control Commission is there for----to keep things FAIR for both the casinos & players?

Yes, but the casinos have to supply the gaming commission with reports that tell the payout numbers versus the income numbers. They have to maintain a certain level. I think they can range from like 87% to 99%. Don't quote me on that 87%. As long as their payout AVERAGE doesn't fall below a certain percentage they can adjust what they want.

Here is the offbeat dictionary of a JEWISH PRINCESS (Urban Dictionary)

n. A woman of Jewish faith and/or descent who displays at least two of the following criteria:
a) viciousness
b) greed
c) arrogance
d) vanity
e) social-dominance
f) inability to do minor tasks (i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry)
g) fragility
h) dishonesty

Sounds to me like it fits her Perfectly, The only one that she may not qualify for is Fragility.

What really gets me is that when someone sits down at a slot, they have absolutely no way of knowing what their odds of winning are. When you buy a lottery ticket, a similar endeavor - small bet hoping for a big win - you know exactly what the odds are. They are printed on the betting slip. When you are at a roulette table, you know the exact odds - bet $5 on #8 and you've got a 1 in 38 chance of hitting that number since there are 38 possible outcomes on the wheel. Craps, blackjack, baccarat all have known odds. Slots are the only game I can think of where you are totally winging it.

I find that blackjack and roulette are boring - to me. The few times I have played blackjack in AC I have never lost, but I just didn't have any fun.
I had $40.00 one night -(how far does that get you in blackjack) I played a .25 multistrike poker machine. After 1 hour I left with $9,000. You can't do that at blackjack with that kind of stake. I played pennies and put in the max of $1.00 and won $2,600.00. You can't do that on blackjack. That's why I play the machines. I agree that the odds on the table games are better, but if you are not lucky, even if you have the skill, you can have 100% odds and lose.

This is true. Playing bj does require a larger stake. AC casinos have pretty much eliminated low limit tables. You can occasionally find a $10 table at slow times and $15 on the weekends, but if you are the type to sit down at a slot with $20 or $40, table games aren't for you. Harrah's Chester does have $5 video bj which is nice for those wanting to play for smaller amounts.

BJ also requires some knowledge of the game, whereas anyone can sit down and play a slot machine and have an equal chance of winning or losing. The house advantage I referred to, 0.8%, only applies to players who are sticking to proper strategy. A novice player can easily give the house a 20% edge and would be far better off at a slot machine.

It's great that you've hit some big jackpots on slots. Just realize that the odds against doing so are phenomenal. That's why the casinos fill most of their floor space with slots and get most of their income from slots. If the odds were good, you can be sure there would be far fewer machines.

Thats what I love about Vegas, they have $2.00 tables for everything. I probably spend just as much but it takes longer.. Way back in the begining of AC you were able to find #2.00 tables in the weee hours of the morning but as soon as it got crowded the price went to $5 then to $10 by 10am

Yep. Though we were at Showboat on Sunday and there was a sign in the elevator that said they always have $5 blackjack. I didn't search too hard, but I didn't see the $5 table (I'm sure there's only one). I played at a $15 table and was happy to find that as I usually play at a $25 table.

Most of the casinos do offer video blackjack on the Game Master machines, but the odds are not good as they don't allow all the same types of bets as a live table. But at least you can play for as little as 25 cents. The video bj virtual tables in the PA and DE casinos are very good, though, and they start at $5.
