I think a Walmart in Abingdon would be great, Kmart is not very good and there is no other place to shop for half way decent merchandise.

I kinda like target myself. Abingdon does not need a wal-mart. They should, however, build one in Glade Spring. makes more sense to me. Sorry Agent 7 was kinda mean, I forgot to give him his pill today.

Maybe I should work for them then... My thoughts were that a Glade Wal-mart would draw business from Chilhowie, damascus, even mountain city/ shady valley. It makes sense, but they have their heads set on clogging the hell outta exit 14. oh well. just one more reason for me to move to Banner Elk.

well i think that walmart would not affect any of the shops downtown of coure i did see that they carry fine wines, handmade bead jewelry and precious crystal. oh wait no they don't but you have those shops in downtown abingdon.

Honestly though, suppose Wal-Mart does come in, if they sell wicker baskets and handmade items like you find in the downtown shops, and they sell them cheaper, then boo hoo for the ritzy antique mongers downtown. I hate to see anyone pay out the nose for items, and that's what is going on downtown.

Whether or not Abingdon gets or even needs a Wal-Mart is irrelevant, If you, as a consumer, are willing to stroll down Main Street and pay $200 bucks for something that you can get somewhere else for half of that, then you're a freaking moron. I know that sounds sorta harsh, but imagine the grin on the face of the rich shop owner when you pay double for something HE GOT AT WAL-MART!! Duh, wake up America, it's the rich that are screwing our economy up.

i feel that the shopsin downtown abingdon offer more specialty items than anything. this means that they are here for a different clientel and not for the average joe that shops at wal mart. after some thought i agree that glade is an ideal place for a wm especially with target being close by. i know that bthe rich people of abingdon will have most of the say in the situation as they always do whether it's fair, logical, helpful or not.

If they had more trailer parks it'd be alabama. the top layer of Abingdon is SO thin you can flip a booger through it. Underneath it's all rotten like anyplace else. They think they're Gatlinburg, but they're more ghetto. haa!!

Daily Horoscope for March 21

Gemini

By early evening the changing Moon will be sailing through your first house of personality and it's time to make a social comeback. Say 'yes' to invitations, even if you're feeling low this morning. By evening, you will be ready to charm and entertain again. You'll especially enjoy doing something new or attending a cultural event as Neptune makes these things seem more glamorous than everyday activities.
