For the life of me, I can't quite figure out why there are still people supporting Obama. Simply ask yourself how much better off you are today than 2008. Are you still employed? How much did you pay for gas at your last fill up? How are things looking for the deficit?

Someone point to something positive that he has accomplished please.

In 2008 when Bush left office, the national debt was $10.6T, currently we are at $15.56T an increase of $4.9 TRILLION dollars.

In 2008 the unemployment rate was 7.8% today, 8.2%

The number of unemployed has risen from 12M to 13.1M

The median home value has decreased from $196K to $169K.

Mortgage delinquencies has risen from 6.5% to 10.2%.

Gas has risen from $1.83/gallon and today I filled up at $3.49/gallon.

So would someone tell me please just what this Messiah has done exactly to improve the country we live in?

He did give us Obamacare! Or rather rammed it down our throats. That's a great gift to your great grandchildren. It's expected to cost 2.6 TRILLION dollars in it's first decade. And that is his "legacy", his proudest "accomplishment".

This man has single handedly done more damage to this country in 4 years than anyone I can imagine. If you were trying to screw this country intentionally and blatantly, I can't imagine doing a better job. Who in their right ming would be willing to give him 4 more to completely run the train off the tracks?

Is Romney the one who is going to make it all better? Probably not, but I hope that he'll at least turn the bus around before it goes off the cliff. You can best predict the future by what you've seen in the past. We know what Obama was capable of in his first 4 years. How much further off the tracks can he drive us given 4 more?

Wake up.

Better off today than in 2008 when the economy was in freefall.
I am still employed and have more employees than I did in 2008.
Paying the price that the free market charges.

Bush drove the debt to $10.6T from a surplus.
Unemployment in VA is not much different than it was then.
We are lucky to have any jobs after the 8 years of Republican control.
The mortgage delinquencies are not the economy's fault. It was people paying too much for property they couldn't afford and banks convincing them it was a good thing to do.
This "Messiah" brought the US auto industry back to the top in the world. He kept our financial system from collapsing. He produced an economy that has increased jobs and production (albeit too slow) which is something the Republican controlled House, Senate, and Presidency destroyed in their 8 yrs in power. He made it so that the majority of Americans can have healthcare. He made it so that you can't be kicked off your insurance if you get sick and need it. He made it so that your insurance company has to provide for you no matter how sick you get.
This man has done more good for this country than the last two Republican presidents combined.
Easier to pick Obama than the mega rich guy.

If you are still employed and have more employees than you did in 2008, then you are in the minority.
The price of oil is based on supply and demand. They can charge what they want for oil because we are slowly but surely choking ut both the coal and oil industries in this country. Bush relaxed the rules, Obama tightened them back up and then some. Yes, it is free market price, but maybe we need Bush and his big oil cronies back in office!
When Clinton left office the national debt was more than $5 trillion. In the eight years Bush was in office, the debt did double, to more than $10 trillion. However, the so-called "surplus" that Clinton and the Dems talk about was brought about by borrowing from things like Social Security and the Post Office. Hmmmm, could that be why the Post Office is going broke? Clinton ran a deficeit EVERY year he was in office, and he didn't have to deal with the issues Bush did.
According to the BLS, the annual VA unemployment rate in 2008 was 4.9%, for 2009, Obama's first year, it was 8.5%. I guess that is "about the same".
"People paying too much for property they couldn't afford and the banks convining them it was a good thing to do". Are you really that naive? People weren't paying too much, the banks wouldn't let them do that. What was happening is mortgages were being financed at 100%, and in some cases, with negative equity to start, because the DEMOCRATS wanted EVERYONE to have the chance at owning their own home. As a consequence, when the economy started to tank, the housing market collapsed, the banks collapsed, and we, the taxpayers had to keep them afloat. You can blame Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae for that.
The "majority" of Americans can already have healthcare. Some choose to forgo it for one reason or another, and now Obama has taken away that right, and has, in effect, levied a tax against anyone who doesn't want to participate in his program. My employer, who has under 500 employees, currently pays an average of $400 per month for each employee's health insurance coverage. The penalty, if they choose not to provide healthcare for their employees and make them buy it from the pool is only $2,500 per employee, a savings to the employer of roughly $690,000 a year, and an additional cost the employee with have to bear.
Yes, everyone will have insurance, but depending on their illness, age, and physical condition, they may or may not get treatment. At least now, if you can afford good insurance, you get good coverage. Under Obama's plan those folks will be penalized for being able to afford insurance that is better than the rest of us.
I know my ten minutes worth of typing won't convince you otherwise, it is obvious you have already drunk too much of the kool-aid. I just hope there are enough people out there who realize that despite his charisma, Obama is about as sorry a president as we have ever had, even making Jimmy Carter look somewhat competent!

Get your facts straight. The Republicans did not control both the house and the senate for the entire eight years under Bush. We are still in the hole for over forty billion dollars after the auto bailout. Half of the money went to fund the pension plans of the UAW membership. Is it my responsibility as a tax paying citizen to insure that union members will receive a pension when they retire? Why could GM not have followed other companies that filed for bankruptcy and than reorganized and returned stronger than ever? Over half the country is now receiving some form and government assistance. What will it be after four more years of Obama? Hope and change sucks and you idiots defend this man!

I find it completely amazing that Americans can have such polar oppositite opinions of Obama and the country we live in and see that same things. It's like two people buried waste high in excrement. One says, my God what are we doing sitting here in this filth? It stinks to the Heavens, we've got to get out of this mess! The other, while sitting in the same pile of excrement, says, "no, I really kind of find it pleasant. It's rather aromatic I think and I find the texture very pleasing".

Neither side is going to convince the other that they are wrong. Just pray that enough people turn out to remove this person before the country is bankrupt.

I find it completely amazing that Americans could have such a negative opinion of Obama. What has he done that is so upsetting to some? Yes, it is like two people buried waist high in excrement, both of them says, my God why are we sitting here in this filth? One person realizes who put them in the mess to start with and realizes who is trying to get them out, the other one doesn't have a clue as to why we are there and want to go back to the people who made the mess to start with. One person seems to be satisfied with the rich getting richer and taking away our rights as workers and human beings. They could care less about the old people and the unfortunate who have had illnesses or accidents. They believe every lie that Fox News and Rush puts out and apparently are incapable of thinking for themselves. They are too stupid to realize what the big rich people are feeding them with their Pac's, that doesn't have to account for where the money, to pay for all these lies is coming from. Their side is trying every way in the world to prevent people from voting that they think will vote against them. Their side has said that their main objective was to prevent Obama from having a second term and has let America go to hell to prevent Obama from doing anything. Come on get real!!!!!!!!!!

Just pray that people won't fall for all these Republican lies and that Obama gets re-elected and that the Democrats take back control of the House and the Senate.

"Americans" don't have a negative opinion of the President. TOPIX posters are typically very conservative and rural. They don't represent mainstream America as you will see in November.

Okay, you got me. The Republicans controlled the House from 1995-2007, Senate from 1995-2009 (2001-2003 & 2007-2009) it was 50/50 & 49/49 split). So since Clinton took office in January 1993 the Democrats had control of the house for 6 out of the last 20 years and the senate for 6 out of the last 20 years. Seems to me like your team has had the majority of control over law making in the last 20 years. I don't understand how you can say those six years they could do so much damage and why the Republicans who had power for 14 of those 20 years did nothing but wonderful things for this country??? You people make up your own history. There certainly is no arguing that.

Your employer does not have to pay $400 per month now! He chooses to. If he would rather pay the fine and not insure his employees then that is his choice (aren't you wanting the "job creators" to make and have more money?). His company would be more profitable and his employees would care less for him and his company. Less dedication and less productivity but more profit, isn't that Free Market Capitalism? His employees that were working for him because he provided good health care would not have to work for him any more and could compete on the open market for better work without fear of losing their insurance. Seems like, as a business owner, it makes more sense to continue paying for the insurance instead of potentially losing your workers. But you gotta do the math to see which works better for you. At least now, a business owner has a choice.

Why would anyone not get treatment? Before Obamacare, everyone with insurance received great medical care (LOL!). That is, unless they were sick for too long a period of time or their illness was just too costly or they lost their job because they were too sick to work or lost work and couldn't get back on an insurance policy because they had a preexisting illness.

Under Obama's plan you can purchase any insurance you want and can afford. No penalty for buying what you want and can afford.

How can someone, regardless of your political views, argue with simple black and white facts?

Do you think it's a good thing to go from a $10T deficit to a $15T?
Is that a sign of growth and progress? At home, are you trying to pay down/pay off your mortgage, or are you going out each year and increasing your personal debt exponentially?

With unemployment, is it a positive sign that we have more people unemployed? How is that progress?

Is the gas that much better that we are now paying double?

Obamacare will turn out to a huge disaster if it is not completely overhauled. You are going to see many healthcare practitioners who either close up shop and retire long before they intended or decide to completely withdraw from taking insurance period and have the individual pay out of pocket and bill their own insurance. As a healthcare provider, you would not believe the amount of regulations and hassle it is already to get paid for services by insurance even before Obama, now you are going to start seeing them refuse to take any insurance. It will be like merchants suddenly refusing to take the US dollar. So what if you have it? If no one takes it, what good is it? So, am I saying that there will be no docs in the whole country who won't take insurance? Of course not. But those who do will certainly have waiting lines and you will not have the same access to healthcare that you are accustomed to right now.

"We have to pass it so we can see what's in it." - Nancy Pelosi. On what planet does ludicrous asinine comment even begin to make sense?
