Any dog can be made to be mean. I have a friend who has owned multiple Pits and they have all been nothing but big babies.

On the other hand, I was attacked by a German Shepherd as a child and recently was almost attacked by 2 Great Pyrenese and was bitten at the rabies clinic by a Cocker and just the other day by a Weiner Dog. Oh yes, and was almost attacked by a Dobie some years back.

Sorry to bust your bubble but pit bulls are killing machines no matter how you baby them. That's like saying that if you take a tiger or bear and raise it right it will never attack. How dam stupid you got to be? Pit bulls are more likely to kill you if you are attacked by one or more than all those other dogs combined. For most of the dogs you named the most you would have to worry about is maybe a few stitches unlike with a pit bull. Both parties should be held accountable for the out come of this little kids death period no dam excuses! All Pit Bulls should be put down no matter how harmless you think they are so don't be a dumbass!

Report said "Tanner was found dead alone about 150 yards from his house and 50 to 75 yards from a neighbor's house where he had been playing with some friends."
Must have been a big yard if the dogs were 50 to 75 yards (150 to 225 feet) from their home! That's almost a football field. Guess just because most of you can read does not mean that you can understand what you read! hhhmmm

I had a pitbull that was nothing more than a big baby. We never had any problems out of her. However, we never let her loose to roam the yard unattended. She was mostly inside with us, or on a leash. Sometimes, we would let her play in our fenced-in front yard, but only if we were outside with her, constanly watching her. It's not that we feared she would attack anyone, but we felt personally responsible to watch her. That is the responsibility you take on when getting a pit. You can't just let them roam around. We have a weenie dog now. She is tiny, but we still follow the same rules. She is never out of our site unless we are gone, then she is in the house. Now, I am not trying to blame the parents, but I would never let a child play outside without me watching. These kind of stories happen everyday, not to mention stories of abduction, etc... It was a tragedy, but I hope we all learn from it.

I know of someone also that had a pit for many years (Think the dog was 5 or 6 y/o) when their daughter (14 y/o) was home alone at the kitchen table doing her homework after school when the dog, for no reason, attacked and killed her. Her parents came home to find her dead body laying at the front door were the dog had drug her to. This dog sleep with her in the bed most of it's life and was a house dog. Plain and simple fact is that they have more than the power to kill a human of most any size without warning just like a wild animal kept captive. They are a breed for hunting bears and big pigs they are out right killing machines period no matter how you raise them. Same as those guys in vegas that did the shows with lions for over 25 years and never had a problem until that one day. Now you no longer see them doing shows with the tigers huh? It was a tiger that they had raised from birth too!

When I was younger, I was attacked by a dalmation. The dog would have killed me if my dad had not been there to pull it off me. So, it's not just pits, it can be any dog. The point is, if you have a pet, it's your responsibility to watch it. Also, if you have a child, it's your responsibility to watch them too. If my dad had not been there with me, I probably wouldn't be here today.

Your missing the point. If you had have been attacked by a pit bull you and you dad may have not made it. These dogs were made by breeders to be pure muscle and killing machines. Pit bulls killed more people world wide than all other breeds combined.

I get your point, I was making another point. I understand pitbulls are more dangerous than other breeds, and they can be deadly when they attack. Not disagreeing with you at all, but any dog can be aggressive. My point is, regardless of what kind of dog you have, you should never leave children unattended with them.

My point is that pit bulls are just like a wild animal and unpredictable no matter how you raise them. They can turn on you with out provocation and have more than enough power to kill a full grown person than all other dogs combined. They were not meant to be a pet breed but more a big game hunting dog with the instinct to kill. You have internet go do your research about their history and the reason they were genetically created. These are not dogs that were wild and domesticated like most all other dogs. Just do your research and you will know what I'm saying.

As a parent I know that you can never leave a child unattended period until they reach their teen years. They can get into so much so fast. People just understand that they are beautiful dog but very very dangerous pet to own.

So are rattle snakes, sharks, and alligators are all creatures of nature but they don't make good pets. As for God, how do you know that they are one of his creatures or that he even exist? Oh yea someone wrote a book about him sorry I forgot with me being Agnostic and all. J/K :)
