New fire company to host convention

Kind of hard for them to have their 3rd annual golf tournament when they were formed one month ago. Jeez.

Fact Checker, if you would have read the article it stated that the New Oxford and Abbottstown Fire Companys sponsored the tuournment and they are the two departments that murged in June.

Hopefully with this event, the "UNITY" will come back to UNITED HOOK AND LADDER (UHAL).
It's quite obvious to anyone thats paying attention, there is a massive divide among the newly formed dept. and honestly, its silly for the reasons be said.
The merge is done with, its here to stay, unless you plan on being the first dept probably in history to un-merge.
Lets get back to being one of the surperb depts in the south central area of the state and put your personal petty difference aside, before the dept fails at its main objective and thats serving the eastern adams section of Adams County.
I for one look forward to the parade, its always a fun day and a kodak (Nikon) moment for sure.

Getting the unity back would be nice, but the're are people at uhal that would rather push people away then try to work with them. Many of the problems were present before the merger, which make me wonder why anyone from abbottstown would want to be part of it. It was obvious by the final merger vote at abbottstown, that everyone there has the same opinions. They will fit in well at this dictatorship fire dept. My advice.... Get rid of the dic!

This will only happen when those in charge stop pushing people out just because they disagree with them on some issues.Some very good suggestions have come from several members that are considered "outcasts" due to the way they have voted on some things. These suggestions are never considered only due to their source. Of course, they want the "outcasts" to help at the fund raisers, especially bingo.

Well UPS, your statement tells me which side of the isle you sit on.

I have no side, I agree with some of the issues on both of the notorious sides, I disagree with both as well.

If you get rid of the person who I think your referring to, does that make it a better dept? or does it only put someone else in charge who will have "thier" own agenda and way of doing things? Then your right back to where the dept is at now. Two sides differing on how things ought to be done, and more un-united. Who chose that stupid name anyway, obviously it was wishful thinking on someones part.

The very issues your complaining about now have been going on for decades in that firehouse, different faces, different names and in some instances same names and faces, but same old story of " I dont like the way so and so does this.

My suggestion is this, if this chief is the only issue the dept has in your opinion (its not in my opinion by the way) then stand up at your next meeting August 5th and make a motion to impeach him from office, due to he is a detrimental to the department, if what your saying is correct, you should have an immediate second to your vote and then the president must call for a vote, ask for a roll call vote. By doing it this way, there is no way to stack the votes, except on your side of the isle because only you and whoever you tell your planning to make this happen will know its going down.

If you dont have the balls to do anything more than take your fire helmet and go pout and complain, then I suggest you submit your resignation because your not doing the dept nor the town any good by being apart of the bringing down of a great organization, now two combined into one. That message goes to both sides of this divide. Way back, I couldnt deal with certain folks and thier agendas any longer and I took my helmet and walked away, tough decision, but it got very easy as the months passed by, and then eventually years. I do not regret it one bit. I am to the point where I would rather pay a hundred dollars a year extra in taxes for a career dept that acts professional dept than one that act the way this one is acting as of late.I could save a few hundred in donations each year by paying more taxes....I cant believe I just said I'd rather pay more taxes. Thats bad dont ya think?

I stand correct. It may be the third tournament to benefit the firefighters of and communities serverd by United, but it is only the first tournament held by United.

I laughed to a co-worker yesterday. I said that I wondered how long it would take for this thread to go down hill..Didn't even take 24 hours. Why can't we all just say "Congratulations & Good Luck United Hook & Ladder 33" and let it go at that. If people that are there want to bytch about it, then just leave. It is a proven fact. If one person has issues and complains all the time, they will have an impact on others around you. Example:You are having a "one" day about everything and everyone else around you is having a "ten" day. You come in, start complaining about the FD and such, everyone else will go from a 10 day to a 1 day quickly.
If you are on the outside looking in and posting judgements without even knowing the department, Join it. Let your opinion known there. Don't come on a thread like this posting negativity. Again, I don't want to have a "one" day because of you. All you have to do is say "Congrats and Good Luck United Hook and Ladder" and let it go at that. If you can't say it.. I will.. Funny thing is I heard most of them quit helping at bingo and left the bingo crew they were helping high and dry.

There is probably over 300 or more members of this dept, it should be made mandatory EACH member help at least once a month at a function, or at best once each quarter of the year, then the same people wont get burnt out doing functions. There is absolutely zero reason to have 300 members and only have 25 or so active at calls and fundraisers. If they cant help, remove them from the roster. You dont have to tell me about life members did their dues either, if they wish to remain a member, get off your duff and help.

As for the bingo workers, if someone doesnt soon shit or get off the pot, I am hearing your NUMBER ONE money maker will go down the crapper, your customers are not happy at the service they are getting. The food choices of hamburgers and hotdogs on a $25.00 entry ticket on a Sunday bingo is not what they expect for that price. They're money is limited, and it can only go to so many bingo halls, meaning the one they like best will get their money. I have been apart of a bingo in the past where we didnt keep our customers happy and that bingo is no longer operating.

The department has issues that is a given. Hopefully soon they will all hold hands again, people dont like to give to a group of misfits who keep asking for money to buy new things, yet dont help their own cause by showing up to work the bingos as mentioned above.
