I've witnessed enough asinine behavior from fans on both sides of this rivalry to make me sick. One question. Is it possible to root for your team on the road without "rubbing it in" to everyone within earshot? I used to do it when I traveled to St. Louis and Minneapolis and I never once felt threatened in any way. Hawks fans are no angels in this, believe me. But some of the Wings fans bring it on themselves. Maybe you didn't. Judging by the overall tone of your post you probably didn't and I'm sorry you had to put up with that crap. Oh yeah, every team has their bad apple fans that's for sure. I'd been to other Hawks Wings games at the UC but last Friday's game was the first one where I was actually a bit worried. And I definitely don't gloat or rub it in, that's tacky. Heck, in that game I had nothing to rub in, the Wings were getting pounded until they rallied in the third! Heck, the Hawks fans right next to us and behind us were cool. The young guy next to me was at his first Hawks game and asked me, "Hey, my friend gave me this jersey to wear, is he any good?" He was wearing a Hawks Probert sweater! I told him it was perfect for this game and it reminded me of when I was a kid we had a saying "don't be such a Probert!" if someone was being bully-like. Oh well, I'll just chalk up that bad experience to drunk band-wagoners that'll disappear. And the band-wagoners that realized that hockey is great will become great new Hawks fans because there is a lot to love about this team!

From the US Dept of Labor website regarding mass layoffs in the first quarter of '09.
California recorded the largest number of worker separations (115,014), followed by Michigan (46,817), Illinois (41,887), and Texas (33,005).
Just bringing a little perspective to the people who are taking shots at Mich and Det. Illinois is on our tail. Not trying to be funny just trying to be fair. Have a good summer. Looking forward to the Cubs coming to Comerica at the end of June.
Go Wings!!! Go Tigers!!!

He's so ignorant that he keeps taking cheap shot at the city of Detroit and Michigan's economy. Like I told him earlier in my post: Take a good look at yourself in the mirror before making ignorant comments on this board.

As a lifelong Red Wings fan I was glad to see the Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals. The Blackhawks are a good team and should be a contender in the Central for years to come. But the Blackhawks will never get past the Red Wings for these 3 reasons...
1. You need a solid veteran to guide Toews and Kane to win, you can have Chelios back if you want.
2. You will never win with Joel Q. The Wings made him their bitch when he was with St. Louis. Joel Q will never win a cup.
3. The Red Wings have been on top for so long because they know how to draft and attract superstars. With Ken Holland, Steve Yzerman, and Mike Illitch, the Red Wings will continue to be a dynstay. We may not win the cup every year, but we will always be a contender.

The Hawks had a great year, one better than anyone had thought when the season started. While I would have loved to see the Hawks in the Cup finals I am happy to see that they are one of the best teams in hockey this year. The fans are back, selling out every game this year. And management has committed to putting a good team on the ice.
After the performance last night I will say I am feeling better about Huet. I just hope that Sopel, and Walker are not back. Can't wait for the convention to start.

Hey Detroit fans, do you at all find it ironic that your hockey team is dominated with foriegn imports, while the main industry in Michigan, the auto industry, is going into the crapper in large part due to foriegn imports (along with poor management)?

Does this mean all of the aging frat boy bandwagon fans from Ohio will toss all of their recently acquired Hawks gear?

Can we help it that there are actually other things to do (bars, restaurants, music venues, comedy clubs, etc.) around Wrigley and it's a neighborhood where people actually want to spend time? It's pretty nice having something to do before and after the game besides sit in a parking lot. Prob is, most are there for the beer at crappy bars and nothing else. Well like they say, location, location, location.

It'll be fun watching the penguins skate circles around you guys Thank you for the insights. You're posts are fantastic. They clearly outline your source of hockey knowledge... your television.

B) Do you know anything about hockey? Do you have any idea how important redirection is to goal scoring? It isn't that hard for most NHL goalies to stop straight shots when the goalie is not screened. Add a screen and/or a tip, and the shot is much, much more difficult to stop. From the Trib: "After two scoreless periods, Dan Cleary's goal opened the scoring and came on the Wings' 34th shot of the game. Cleary redirected a shot by Lebda from inside the blue line." C) But do like that virgin on prom night?? What the heck are you talking about? Well sober now that still will not help my spelling I guess the word is WII I do not play the game .Don't think Cleary touched that puck it went off Walkers foot .A s for the virgin on prom night that was from the early post thought it was funny. So from the retard have a lousy life "KARMA" IS A FUNNY THING

I expected the wings to get it in five. What I did not expect was the unbelievable performance from Huet. The goal tending last night was superb. I'm a Wings fan but the Hawks put up a heck of a fight this year. I am so happy that hockey is alive and well in Chicago despite the loss. Good team, good fans, great game, GO HOCKEY!!!!

All American based teams are stocked with foreign players. Just so you know Canada is not in the U.S. So if you are a Canadian playing in the U.S. you are a foreign player. Just trying to help out my little potato friend. Foriegn is spelled Foreign. I before e does not apply here.

I enjoyed reading your's, ramrod's and others comments (about hockey, imagine that?) throughout the year. It sure was a memorable season, disappointing the way it ended, but lots of hope for the future. Hopefully Huet can play at the level he did last night next season as I am sure Khabi is gone. A couple things I think we need are another power forward with some scoring touch (maybe Beech can fill the bill?) and a physical, stay-at-home defenseman. Should be an interesting offseason.

I talk with a few of the regulars on here and Chico17, BFM and me all decided to stay off them until it was over. I see most of the comments are so negative, it is about Hockey, the Hawks and the Wings. People on here talk about this and that team suck, come on they are the final 4 teams left, they are both great teams. Look at the Eastern Conference, the hurricanes got swept. This series was a great series. For the Hawks team, people are saying oh we need Khabby back. No way, he gets hurt too much and isn't worth it. Huet needs to play like he did yesterday. I hope that the play continues to improve for Buff, Bolland, Burish, Versteeg (resign him). And the defense has to improve as well. I am not going to be as hard on Campbell as some are, he made mistakes but so did every defensive guy on the Hawks. I do look forward to next year as the Hawks are a special team. I also don't think that Paulsson will be back, unless he doesn't take alot of $$. Tallon needs to work his magic.

Hey relax everybody about Huet, he had a great game last night, I will give him that but can he do that on a consistent basis, the answer is no, I saw him a lot with Montreal, I know what I am talking about, he is not the answer. I don't want to see him in a Hawks uniform anymore.

No team is going to take that contract, and you can't cut him. They have to keep him. As for Khabby, for the 4 years he was here the first 2 were bad. If he played like he did this year than we would have made the playoffs last year. Finally Khabby gets hurt too much, so he is not the answer.
