Somehow Obama is going to aid and abet Daley with his Olympic dream using taxpayer money. Let the wiretapping begin!

I love the people who can comment out here and don't have an ISP location so as far as I can tell, Lawrence Oliver must be writing from the moon!

Chicago does not need the Olympics! I've been working on the southside and when you drive thru Marquette Park and see every block had 2-3 boarded up houses and another 1-2 not boared up but the snow on the front steps hasn't seen a single footprint, we are in trouble.

Daley and his band of 50 alderMorons has sold off everything in a short sighted attempt to fix a very broken budget. How can a city that cannot run a park district program for all its children now want to run a professional Olympics? Daley is working on his legacy at the citizen of Chicago expense. IT IS TIME FOR HIM TO GO!!!!!

I believe Chicago has the worst gang problem in America. It is hurting Chicago's inner city folks more than anything else. The only way to cure the problem is tougher laws and sentences, with time spent in Federal prisons, far from Chicago, with no access to friends or family period. Kass, why does the media not replay the tapes for Mr Daley so he cannot deny it? They just laid down when he denied it. Why do the media not help fire him (you are and we are grateful)

In any other city in the united States this DALEY buffon would be fired by now.

Czar Daley, I posted a few during the week about not publicing the project list for use of the stimulus monies, and each time the post was removed within minutes of my submiting it. Of course Czar Daley does not want the list made public, then he and all his cronies would be able to be held accountable for where the money went or why the project was not done !!! Why has Czar Daley never been under investigation for being corrupt ? He really can't be that smart can he ?? BTW I don't want the Olympics here and was not polled, must have polled the all the Dumbocrate lemmings who vote the way there ward bosses tell them to !!!

It's the people's fault.

Politicians are only reflections of who we are.

This is huge corruption; huger than anything ever before in history. Indeed we (Americans) are now into socialism, with it's ugly government influence over "private" businesses, secular re-education, attack on our families' privacy and war against our religion and Church. However, it is not liar rich Daley's fault. It is our fault. We created, aided, abetted, condoned, encouraged and championed this new era of Government-Media mobocracy, that is Socialism. And with nothing (no republican party or other organization) to stop them, well then Communism is next.

We the Chicagoans can stop Communism. We can even strike back down Socialism which Daley and president Conman have started with their masters Axelrod and Emanuel.
To do this though takes a spine. We have to stand tall.

We have to take advantage of elections at the ballot boxes. To make a long story short, we must vote AGAINST the democrats. On Tuesday, Feb 2nd, 2010, do not take a democrat ballot. Take a REPUBLICAN ballot. Then in November, 2010 , vote against each and every single democrat party member of Daley's Political mafia.

You see, there is a monopoly right now. And Daley's mafia has infiltrated our republican party. High ranking "republican" officials in the Illinois party are fakes, plants and frauds. They work for Daley. The democrats control everything. Now this tragedy is exported to our White House. We are now losing our nation because of Daley's politics, but remember it's not Daley's fault -- it is our fault.

We need a 2- party political system. We need competition. We need a conservative American REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION in Chicago which will reverberate from Chicago to D.C. and back to Springfield.

BOTTOM LINE:
GOVERNMENT WORKERS. We need all government workers to abandon the ANTI-CHRISTIAN & ANTI-AMERICAN politics of Richard M. Daley. We need all government workers to vote against Daley and his slate. Vote Republican. He can not hurt you. That Communist game is over, unless you -- YOU -- continue to encourage Daley and his aparatchiks.

You can vote Republican and keep your jobs. You can vote American and keep your houses and your dignity. We all, government workers and non-government workers must take our nation back. We must take our government back.

Politicians are only reflections of who we are.

VOTE AMERICAN, VOTE CONSERVATIVE, VOTE REPUBLICAN.

Send a message. Take a REPUBLICAN ballot.

Thak you,

I owned a small business in the Chicago suburbs for 30 years... Fox News contributor, John Kass, consistently decries the "bi-partisan combine" that runs Chicago (and most of the state's finances too.)... While the Olympics would present a fertile opportunity for more graft it would, generally, not be just Illinois taxpayers funding it this time... There would be positives for Chicago: Clean up blighted areas; New facilities; Upgraded transportation; Tourism among others.

The Combine is always (unless Pat Fitzgerald can put them all in prison) going to steal money from the taxpaying public. It is not a perfect system but it is the best one available.

Lawrence, get off that civil service computer and go back to work for the city. Oh wait, that IS what you are doing - spewing propaganda for the mayor. You are just like all the other typical Chicagoans who think this city is OK. Hint: it isn't.

John Kass is the only reporter in Chicago who tells the truth about the corrupt actions of Chicago's merciless machine and reveals the horrible nightmare that controls the politics in Chicago. Bless you John.

Oh, and what is beautiful about disintegrating streets, rotting train tracks, rusting train infrastructure, filthy homeless beggars, train platforms and stairs stinking of urine, dirty trains and buses, sky-high taxes and fees, etc? Yuck.

John Kass is the only reporter around here left who can critically think. The rest of them are cheerleaders for the party line, whether it is foaming at the mouth over Barry Obama, or spinning over how great the Olympics in Chicago would be, breathlessly reporting every twist and turn in the (probably crooked) selection process. Yeah, I want to drive through more traffic, deal with more construction, and worry about an influx of God knows who in a concentrated period of time. He$$, no, I don't the Olympics here, but no one asked me.

Just another conquest for Daley and Obama.

I dont want the Olympics here. Congestion. Corruption. For what? So that Daley and his buddies can creep so far into my pocket that they will be putting a futon on my wallet to rest? Its sick!
The guy has sold every everything out from under us and were still broke! To the point that he couldnt get salt trucks out and forced us to drive on sheets of ice!
I can only imagine that he will appoint his son to take his throne, ala Emil Jones, Stroger and the host of other political hacks whose ONLY accomplishment in helping people was to ride on their Daddies coat tails into office.
We, my friends, are the dead meat. And the Daleys, the Strogers and their like are picking the flesh off our bones.

We'll all be dead in the grave before any of this Chicago/Illinois corruption is fixed. But hey, in the Chicago tradition at least we'll still be contributing our votes to the machine.

Brillient piece John!! Thanks for writing this. I can only hope it is the first of many to come.
Don't feel bad -- the Trib didn't ask me either. Just as well since they would not have been able to print the reply. Paper burns at 441 F.; and my remarks would have exceeded that.
Please keep asking the right questions and fanning the flames for us Chumbalones and Grabowskis. There might still be a few left with the cojones to stand up to the monarchy. Maybe it will be enough this time.

I'm okay with the Olympics in Chicago under one condition:

Mayor Daley and his aldermen compete in a new event where they dance a two-step 7 times around City Hall with parking meters strapped to their backs, singing:

"Daley did the two-step 'round City Hall and the walls came tumblin' down, down, down, down..."

"As of Sunday, it has been 1,615 days since the mayor promised he'd find out who promoted ex-gangbanger Angelo Torres to run his scandal-plagued Hired Truck program that cost taxpayers at least $40 million. We're still waiting."
The Great and Powerful Oz is probably using the same investigative team OJ Simpson's using to find the real killers of his ex-wife.
On the point at hand, I think only Beijing has been the only time a government/host city has actually made something off the Olympics.
Salt Lake, Lake Placid, Atlanta and LA all had financial red after the Olympics. It only benefits the Mayor of Munchkinland's buddies and himself.
Remember, he's still got a few million in his so called political campaign warchest, I don't see him doling out and $$ for anything. Oh wait, he did make a point of him paying for the Obama banners after he won the election.

Right on the mark! One's an idiot, the other a scumbag who allowed torture when he was state's attorney. Both got by on Family Ties and Family Secrets. The Dick and The Todd must go!

What gets me most about this City is the Aldermen. What a bunch of know-nothing political hacks. Ever listen to what passes as debate among them? What a freakin' joke! Why are schools so crappy in Chicago? Just look at the blathering, inarticulate mayor and the pack of jackals who make city ordinances. The people of Chicago, mostly lower-middle-class and poor blacks and latinos put them in power and will keep them there. So, I live in the suburbs. And when Pat Quinn and the bunch of low brows in the legislature raise taxes to cover the $9 billion hole that the Outfit and it's outliers down state have created I will move out of this increasingly sorry State.

You may be on to something here. If Fitzgerald were to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) he could clean out all the gangbangers that control City, County and State government in one move. Just imagine, Daley(s), Madigan(s), Burke(s), possibly a Stroger or two all sitting in the ceremonial courtroom at the Dirkson building at the same time...

Remember that the Montreal Olympics with Nadia Comaneci? The Montreal taxpayers just finished paying that off a year and a half ago, which was the first Olympics which was supposed to be financed by private investors. Oh, and the special assessment to pay for it was rolled into a permanent tax increase about 15 years ago. The Chicago taxpayer cannot afford this.
