Can't discount Curt Schilling in Chicago Cubs uniform

Full story: Chicago Tribune

MESA, Ariz. - Curt Schilling in a Cubs uniform? It may seem like a farfetched idea, especially considering the 42-year-old pitcher had shoulder surgery last June and the Cubs already have four pitchers vying ...

Are the cubs going to break camp with 15 pitchers? How many #5 pitchers do they need? Or is that going to be a position by committee, the same as some others are?

Did they expand the roster to 35 or 40 players instead of 25 and I am not aware of it? Or is it just for the cubs as an exemption due to 100 + years and counting since the last World Series Title?

They should see if Fergie Jenkins is available to pitch too. His off speed stuff must be wicked!!

Wow! A chance to see Curt Schilling in a Cubs uniform!
This signing would help the 2003 Cubs. The rotation of Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Clement and Schilling (instead of Estes) with Alfonseca and Bowrowski at the back end would be unstoppable.

I could see Schilling being a huge asset to this team. He's a very disciplined, tough as nails character.

Reliever, spot starter, maybe even fifth starter... makes no difference to me!

I don't agree with his wingnut politics, but I admire his abiding Faith, and I think he would be a natural leader for the youngsters on the team.

The guy broke the Bambino curse and won two World Series, for cryin' out loud!

Schilling vs. Milton Bradley on Pay For View. A bout for the ages pitting two from the "over the hill" gang.

It's not enough that the team will have Bradley to contend with--and they surely will before the season is out--but to add Schilling to the mix would be disastrous.

If they can't get Schilling, I heard Hall-of-Famer Jim Bunning may soon be leaving the U.S. Senate and he has never had arm trouble!

Schilling is a loud mouthed blow hard. No one needs him and his preachiness in Chicago.

Why would adding Schilling be disastrous? Elaborate as to why, show you know something about the game. You just agree with others cause you dont know the game! You are such a kiss assz little girl, trying to fit in amongst Men. You should Stick with Martha Stewart Missy, you surely dont belong here. Get the Laundry done & clean the house already. Go Cubs!

When are we going to hear about some HITTERS joining the team? We already have arguably the best starting staff in the Majors; Schilling (and the huge salary he will require) are not needed.

Please just say no to Curt Schilling. But he would rival Ozzie for quotes.

Please dear God do NOT let the Cubs acquire Curt Schilling. I have already purchased about 20 tickets for this season and I will burn them all and not purchase any others if we add this guy to the team. We don't need him and he is a selfish jerk who will kill the clubhouse chemistry. PLEASE, Jim Hendry, just say NO.
