The gender gap has widened when it comes to hygiene, according to the latest stakeout by the 'hand washing police.' One-third of men didn't bother to wash after using the bathroom, compared with 12 percent of ...

Uh, James. If everyone washed their hands, the doorknob wouldn't be nasty.

Quit trying to justify being too lazy to wash your hands. Be a grownup.

This 1/3 is probably greater when it comes to our fresh produce handlers who tend to be poorly educated and poorly paid and, quite frankly, don't give a damn let alone know any better about washing their hands. That "triple-washed" lettuce, etc.---you better wash it thoroughly prior to ingesting. It has more bacteria colonies than the lid of your toilet.

I can vouch for this study. At my college residence hall,I have never seen any of the other guys wash their hands let alone flush the toilet! No wonder people are starting to get colds there.

This is such a disgusting habit. The worst part is watching the Human Males leave the bathrooms and head for the food courts. I’ve had friends loose a parent contracting hepatitis because someone could not wash their hands. Do you remember the special on ABC I believe where they tested the utensils and Coffey straws in the break rooms of NY businesses. Everything had fecal contamination on it. How can they show such disrespect to their loved ones, using the bathroom and then touching them. I believe this is how the earth is going to cleanse itself of human over population, something as simple as the lack of proper hygiene.

When you're out in the woods and have to take a pee, do you usually zip-up and wash your hands?
Here's a joke I just came across;
An American and an Englishman just finished their pees at adjoining urinals.
The American proceeded to the sink to wash his hands, while the Englishman went directly to the bathroom door.
The American said, " In America they teach us to wash our hands after we urinate."
The Englishman replied, " In England they teach us not to piss on our hands."

I have a theory -- if the restrooms were designed without having to open the door from the inside to leave, my findings show a greater number of men DO wash their hands, ie. look at the design of most Walmart stores!
How 'bout the ladies?

I think men are simply becoming more accurate. They are not peeing on their hands as much.

More propaganda from the media to proclaim MEN as the new "inferior sex" (LOL?).

Can we talk? Women sit down in the john more often than men (really!), so common sense suggests that women SHOULD wash up in the john more often (duh!). Plus -- recent studies by these same eggheads suggests that urine is not all that disease ridden after all, and it's only after a bowel movement that anyone should wash up afterwards (NY State health law requires handwashing for at least 20 seconds).

Okay, it makes real sense to me that a lot of drunken male sports event attendees could give a rat's behind about handwashing in the john, but as a man I can tell you flat out -- THERE IS NO POTTY PARITY IN AMERICA -- the womenfolk always win out. Really, I'm not making this up. I cannot tell you how many times while I'm on delivery routes that there is no soap in the men's room, no hot water, FILTHY washing facilities (even in Wal-Mart) and no towels, and not to mention sometimes the hand blow-dryers either DON'T WORK or DON'T STAY ON LONG ENOUGH. So I don't get the point about such inane studies, except to harbor male stereotypes about lack of cleanliness. I can easily show you enough female pack rats and slobs to make you think twice about the cleanliness gender gap. Oh, by the way, cleaner doesn't make you better anyways.

Wait a minute.
Where do they find these critters that lurk around in toilet rooms all day watching folks do their thing?
When they get home from work they must be.....pissed.
Hmm heh!

Gee, Vic, aren't you overreacting in your last sentence? This sounds like the closing moments of the film "War of the Worlds" (LOL)! And why for the love of Pete are you so critical of your own gender to the point that it seems only men are responsible for the Hepatitus outbreaks. Re-read the article, friend: 12 percent of the non-handwashers are WOMEN!!!!!!!!! I am very concerned and compassionate toward those who may have contracted Hepatitus.

I remember a story that my sister told me about an appliance demonstrator at Montgomery Ward's (remember them?) who she saw come out of a restroom stall, and one thing she noticed about this Ward's employee is that SHE (yes, a she -- shocking ain't it? Doesn't fit the agenda, does it!) never washed her hands. Then this employee goes right out and demontrates a microwave oven by popping popcorn and then proceeds to pass the samples out to the spectators. My sister blew the whistle on her!!

"UGH" I wash every time I use the restroom, I grab a paper towel dry my hands and turn off the water, then I crab a clean paper towel to leave the restroom. I carry a spray hand sanitizer and use if there is no clean restrooms. I would not eat if I could not wash my hands, especially at a mall.
