yow.

i hate the wrigleyville one. was goose island unable to afford the lease (can't imagine that's the case), or did the building's owner think they could get more in this market?

sad, sad, sad.

i know i can still get their fine brews, but i really liked the clybourn location.

The passing of an era. . . Hope they open a new location somewhere convenient (other than in wrigleyville).

Move to Forest Park Goose!!! Better tax rate then Chicago, and you will fit in nicely on Madison Street.

Awww man, that's bad news! A great brewpub, actually has a parking lot! The ONLY downside to the place is that it closes so early, but other than that, its fantastic- hopefully they can work something out....

Talk about a misleading headline - for a moment I thought the entire chain was closing!

Still, sad - I tended to prefer some of the entree items at the Clyborne local that the Wrigleyville location didn't always have. Not to mention the Wrigleyville local frequently gets overrun by Cubs game crowds.

Don't suppose anyone would know if there's a chance they'd move this 2nd location to another spot?

So long as they keep brewing "Honkers Ale" and "312" I could care less.

This is really sad. The Clybourn location is by far way better than the Wrigleyville location, having more beers on tap, a better atmosphere, and friendlier bartenders. I regularly goto the Clybourn location even though I live 2 blocks from the Wrigleyville one.

I hope they find a new location.

Yeah. Write some law that landlords must write infinity leases where they cannot raise the rents, especially if a Chicago pol's buddies are the tenants.

Stop your nanny state madness!

Very sad. Clybourn was a great restaurant and tavern. Time to open some suburban locations! At least the beer is being distributed by A.B. well. Honker's Ale is available on tap at most bars or six packs at the store.

Goose Island opens, makes an area more interesting, rent goes up. Landlord kicks out original tenant who made the realestate more valuable to being with.

I have heard that they are looking to open in a new location, but it is highly unlikely that it will happen before the Clyborne location is closed. Hopefully they do follow Daniel M's advice and open in the north/northwest suburbs. My wife and I are planning on moving out that way after our daughter heads off to college in the fall and it would be great if our favorite brewpub moved with us!

Maybe Goose Island can lobby for space in Grant Park?

Perhaps a location near the CCM to help alleviate the stress of all the parents and those without kids who get stressed out with kids trampling underfoot when the CCM is shoved down our throat into Grant Park...EVERYONE could use a delicious Goose Island beer or 6 then...
