No one wants sticky suburban spawn SUVS and double wide strollers on NI.Now all we need do is relocate all the traffic! This plan will be better for children with more light and less traffic at Northerly Island.

With this design, the CCM shows they really do not understand the nature of the protections.
From the article: "And a 20-foot glassy pavilion at Randolph Street that would have served as an entrance will now be moved off park land and onto an expanded public sidewalk." It is a building that will obstruct the view thru the park, whether it is on the park property or not. And this is aside from the fact that the rest of the building from the ground below is a building. And their traffic plan for the neighborhood might work if people knew about it. Recently, the Harris theater traffic had Randolph St totally blocked going east, while about 20 buses were unloading. Living in this neighborhood is tough now. It will be a challenge for the patrons of the CCM to get here. I don't care where the leadership of CCM was schooled or how smart they are. They seem to me to be as dumb as rocks. |

What about this?
(a) Put the Indianapolis museum (ranked 1st) in Grant Park (b) Move the Chicago museum (ranked 31st) to Indianapolis (c) Have the Pritzkers throw in some cash for the people of Indianapolis to make it up to them? http://www.parents.com/family-life/travel/us-... |

Maybe he'll pop something & have to step down for medical reasons. I won't cry much on the political front considering I've been voting against him in the last few elections. |

The high paid museum team has no intention of this being built below ground. They'll come up with excuses requiring them to make 'slight adjustments' to the plan and it'll become another Navy Pier. Except this time, it'll be in the heart of OUR park.

I guarentee that some where in the bottom drawer of Daley's desk is a full blown plan that shows his vision of Grant Park in 10 years. Every major Chicago corp will have a pavilion/compound with signage and towering building (all for the kids of course). There will be black tie galas from one end of the park to the other. Scary as this sounds, you know it's coming, unless we stop it.
Write your alderman. |

Bury Daley, not our children

People have no vision these days. These parks are not utilized, it is time to bring in private business and make the functional. You all sound like a bunch of tree hugging Obama supporters. Wake up!

Jimbo -there is a vision for Grant Park...but it does not include
crass commercialization using faux "educational" playzones that cater to machine clouted crowds. The vision does not include pandering to the lowest common denominator by caving to pressures of the day. It is a vision of enduring ideals of quality of life. The vision is simple- natural, open and healthy amidst the urban core. It is a vision above politics of the day and extends far into the lifetime of Chicagoans to come who will cherish sunshine, nature and greenspace even more. Tree hugging is mainstream as is clean air, reduced energy use, green technology, an increasing awareness of the need for parks. water management and offsetting our carbon footprint. You need to wake up. |

I haven't read every post, but does anyone else think this looks like some Egyptian tomb?
Are these people nuts or what? They want to bury children and deface the Grant Park and the lakefront. Shame on you, Daley, and your rich friends/donors. |

LOL, literally. The ladder really got me. Thanks. |

Your response is quite funny. Agree with your reaction. My suspicion is that the design is to get approved only. They say it will not change but it will. There are code violations in the rederings. I suspect you will see an above ground building - why - because of the children. |
