Olympics - Chicago- not going to happen, unless da Mayor pulls of something nefarious. Sorry - we don't deserve it and we don't need it. My bets are on Rio.

Richie Daley doesn't care what 75% of the people think. He's going to make them pay for it anyway.

The trib conducted a poll? Really? Who, what, when, where, why and how?
A REAL newspaper would suggest that there might be a poll conducted in conjunction with the upcoming 2009 elections or sooner. God forbid there would be a state wide vote. The cuckoo citizens don't have any idea what is in their best interests.

Somehow the Mayor will get Obama to pay for the Olympics (and O'Hare). So, the entire country will pay taxes to fulfill Daley's dream.

Disclosure: former Chicagoan here

This is the problem with Chicago voters. The city has one of the worst public school systems in the country. The city is the reigning murder capital of the country, surpassing cities twice its size. But the Olympics? SURE! That's what Chicago needs to spend money on! A money-losing venture that amounts to a two-week tourism ad for the city!

Chicago voters love ideas, and Daley loves selling those ideas to them for top dollar.

And folks, if "Millennium" Park opened in 2004, Chicago needs to be jockeying for the 2020 Summer Olympics, not 2016.

Olympics here with some of the worst money managers on the face of the planet? It can't be done unless Daley is asking for the money in the pathetic pork filled stimulus pkg. He is such a welfare recipient. I do not want one penny of my tax money going to fund the dream of Daley. Let him get the money through his boot program or better yet perhaps all of those politicians who are cheating on their taxes.

The problem is, YOU MORONS KEEP ELECTING DEMOCRATS TO EVERY CONCEIVABLE OFFICE.

Guess What? When any political party knows they have zero chance of not holding onto a political office, they don't need to care what anyone thinks. People complain, but when voting time comes they reach for the Democratic lever every time.

I can't wait to see President Obama trying to put a bright face on a city that is a shadow of its former self in seven years.

I would find it so funny if the black uprising that elected Obama president would put a black head to head with Daley in the next City Election. You know what'll happen. Jesse Jackson Jr. will be the next Mayor of Chicago.

Hey Will! For one of the first major transportation centers Chicago`s is holding its own. It`s not new like alot of other places in the world but... it still gets people to and from work. Give it a rest already. IF Daley said he was going to spend billions on a brand new transportation system you would probably be the first in a line of millions yelling i am sure.

How can a poll that quizes only 350 people, state that two third of a three million populace be in support of this potential taxpayer debacle?

It's funny how the Trib polled "Chicago area residents" and it will be us Chicagoans who will get stuck with the tab. Chicago can't properly fund its schools and yet we'll pay millions for the Olympics.

Let the city have their Olympics, as long as the burbs are kept out of it.
