There are two people over at the WaPo who HATE me and HATE that I pick on Amy. One guy has two big paragraphs of calling me a whiny baby.? I sure didn't whine, i posted the exact same response there as I did here. Who defends amy to that degree?

We're talking presidents here.

-president of Proctor & Gamble's feminine and health care division
-worldwide president of the company's pharmaceutical group

Sorry if I'm not going to buy into the idea that they have no power as to the direction of there companies and are at the mercy of the men.

The president isn't all powerful at a big pharma company. There's a board of directors to report to (they have more power than the president), there are shareholders who demand profits....

I think that's more true now that it was even a couple decades ago. I think things are still changing and that male-driven agendas from decades past affect the state-of-the-art today. Older generations did not put a lot emphasis on female sexuality, and still a lot of doctors will dismiss a woman's claims that sex is painful. In various advice columns, I've read letters from women seeking advice after their doctor basically told them to suck it up. If many doctors in the 21st century are still dismissing these issues, how readily do you think research into them was to get 20 or 50 years ago?

Right, but they are not calling the shots as to the direction of the company. They hire the president to do that. Surely if this problem was as big as yall make it out to be, there would be a market for it. Its no differnent than any other R&D project the company would sink money into. If there's a potential for profit, the board will be fine with it. If it turns into an exercise in flushing money down the toilet, yeah, heads will roll, regardless of if the research is on a drug for lady problems or something else.

You think the folks that developed viagra did so because the board was a bunch of men and could see themselves using it, but would nix an idea for a female geared drug because it focuses on a problem that does not/could not afflict them? BS. Its all about the benjamins.

By the way, Viagra does work on women. Just sayin'.
Actually, it doesn't work on women. I just finished reading Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach and in it she talks about how Viagra was tested on and given to women in the hopes that it would work for them, but it does not. While some women may notice a difference, overall it does nothing for the majority of women. And, after reading that book, I think it should be required reading for every person the world over.

LW1: Move into a bubble.

LW2: So, the dude is just supposed to quietly resign himself to the fact that for all practical purposes his spouse and him are roommates/friends and his sex life is over at 40? That would be a non-starter for me. Heck, having sex with a woman who only offers me pity sex and is never really into it would be a non-starter. That's boring.

What about all the guys who have to spank it cause their wife says she hurts? It doesn't affect them? They don't want a cure? They don't care?

I think this theory is illogical.

Actually, it DOES work on women -- women who are on anti-depressants who find themselves with lowered sex drives are given Viagra because it increases genital blood flow.

ACTUALLY, just as with many drugs, it works for some, and doesn't work for others.

LW2: There ARE products that can help with the physical discomfort if LW would make the effort to find a sympathetic and knowledgable physician. If LW is too embarrassed to do so, there's always Google.

However, I think the real problem is the lack of real caring, real communication and real intimacy from both parties. Whining to advice columnists isn't going to help and "getting it elsewhere" is just dragging a third party into the problem. Get marriage counseling along with the products.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Gemini

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
