Any guesses to how much longer this will drag on past the supposed July completion date? Pockets will keep getting fatter and fatter while us peons tear our hair out over lost time with our families while the project stretches out months and months beyond schedule. And leaving two lanes during the winter months, are you guys nuts? The first snow will cripple the area.

Great! So not only is it the Dan Ryan, 294 Tollway, now it's the Edens too? Anyone happen to notice that since the 'school year' started about a month ago traveling into the city each morning is taking about 25% more time, or is it just me? I lived through the Kennedy reconstruction and that goofy slip ramp to the express lanes, but I was much younger then and I had better bladder control! Are we sure it's not IDiOT instead of IDOT? There is no 'secret' way to get downtown from the northern suburbs! Just imagine what Lake Shore Drive is going to be like...

Why would you put an asphalt overlay (that will only last 10 to 15 years) on a cement road that has lasted 30 years? Stupid! Politics at its worst!! Asphalt lobby should be ashamed!!!

Why IDOT couldn't wait until the tollway finished widening 294 to 4 lanes shows how inept the planning coordination is. The merge between the spur ramp and 41 is one fo several dangerous bottlenecks on the Edens that date from the early 1950s. The ramp from westbound Willow is the most dangerous I have seen recently. The crumbling Old Orchard interchange is a disaster waiting to happen when traffic backs up. These are the same bozos that took decades and many horrible accidents to do something about Clavey Road.

I don't know the time this will start for sure, but I'm assuming it will have started before the morning commute on Friday. They've had all the cones along the shoulder for the past couple of days, so they are ready to go. Any bets on the delay for tomorrow's commute yet? 6 hours? 7 hours?

Excuse me, but rather than dig BOTH the I294 and I94 simultaneously, why not concentrate on completing one project before starting another? How many times have I driven on these de-constructed roads and not seen anyone working on them? Do ALL of the expressways have to be destroyed at the same time? They always claim the roads will last 30 years--right. The last Edens project didnt hold up nearly that long.

Yes, Crosstown should have been paid. We are paying the price for essentially having only one road through a big city like Chicago. jose herrera wrote: this is why we need the crosstown expressway in the first place because we could get to work ontime instead of wating for the edens to open from construction and it would prevent us from sleeping in offices

I suggest the CTA change its name to the COA.
Chicago Olympic Authority.
Think what could be done to mass transit with a half billion dollars.
