Local Radio Station 96.1 the beat recently put a dj on a CMS school bus to bring awareness to childrens safety. The dj was able to board the bus in street clothes, not the uniforms the others were wearing, and on a cell phone. The DJ is 26 yrs old with a full beard. The bus driver has been suspended and I think charges of disorderly conduct have been brought forth to the radio station.
I think the radio station was brilliant. They showed us parents how easy it is to board a school bus. It really scared me. Peter Gorman (sp) has put the blame on parents and the radio station, never taking responsibility for what his employee did.
I think we need to raise awareness about childrens safety and I do not think the radio station was in the wrong for doing this. Your thoughts? You should also email them to 96.1the beat.

I do not think he should be charged with anything. He was only raising public awareness!

if the bus driver was doing her job, he wouldn't have been allowed on the bus. Thankfully, this was not a person who caused harm, so she should consider herself lucky that she is just got suspended and isn't charged with something more fierce...

The radio station AND the parents are not responsible for the lack of common sense of the bus driver...

YAY! I am so happy you agree! This has caused a large stink on the radio and on the news. AND the lack of Peter Gormans responsibility of his bus drivers. I had an ID card when I was in school. All schools should have these and children should be made to show that ID card before boarding the bus. I dont know.... just rambling.
Thank you for taking up for the radio station! I love Brotha'Fred and think what he did was great! A prank turn to reality.

I don'ts think anyone be charged...CMS should be doing a better job. I know they don't have their act together when it comes to the buses. I know from personal experience. Cubby should not be charged with anything, CMS just doesn't want to own up to anything. This should be an eye opener, the Superintendent needs to open his eyes or go back to where he came from.

i feel that cubby should not be charged...what about the bus driver. if that was my child's bus i would be furious with CMS and not cubby/96.1. i am i shock that they would even arrest him. peter gorman needs to step up and do a better job. he is only worried about getting that pay check and not taking care of students on the bus.

The only thing Cubby should be charged with is being fat and stupid looking.

The station's employee should be charged and the bus driver should be fired.

What he did was moronic and could have terrified the children since THEY knew he shouldn't have been on the bus. I would wonder how many of them were in fear during this little stunt. Had he boarded the bus and then immediately identified himself to the busdriver and gotten off, the awareness would have been raised just the same.

The bus driver obviously should be fired for not ensuring the safety of the children. Had this not been a "stunt" or "joke" they could have all been held hostage or worse. I am not saying that the bus driver is supposed to act under the same guidelines a s the Police, however they are still resposiblt to at least deny boarding to someone who is obviously not a student.

He did get off at the next stop! 96.1 admitted the "stunt" went too far. But we would we say if a murderer got on that bus? A child molester? At the beginning of the show, they just knew he would not be able to get on the bus, but he did.... and what does that say about CMS. I am sure the children were frightened if they even noticed. They also learned a lesson :"to tell the bus driver if they see something suspicious".

No--we need to be aware at all time of our surroundings and when we have children in our charge then we should be even more aware. The CMS needs a new bus system. I lived out of state and all children not only had an ID to check but the school handed out to the bus driver a list of who all children were getting on at each stop. Therefore when the bus got to school and a child was absent it was turned in that morning and the parent contacted to find out if the child went to the stop or is home sick for the day.

In Charlotte every year there is a horror story of some child and the negligent bus driver incidents that should have never happened.

There are many late & post teens that listen. Some are easier to convince to be stupid than others. The copycat aspect of this is what is worrisome down the line. Now that the thought is floating out there, what if the next idiot decides to push their way onto the bus now that this option is well known? Also, since the school system fired the bus driver, why hasn’t the radio station done the same? THEY are responsible for this entire action occurring after all! Should the station not be expected to help pay for some of the fired bus driver's expenses now that she was fired since they are directly responsible for it happening? This guys should both receive the same treatment as the bus driver.

I dont think the bus driver should have been fired. She was suspended like Cubby. Peter Gorman just doesnt want to admit we have a faulty system. I do not think Cubby should be fired either. This was a lesson learned for all parties involved. WHAT IF Cubby would have never gotten on that bus? Parents would not be aware of the lack of responsibility if this wasnt brought forth. Yes, Cubby should apoligize to the bus driver, but he doesnt have a say so whether or not she keeps her job. This is a tough situation for all parties involved. But I look on the bright side that something positive came out of this. Its getting people talking about CMS.

What amzes me is that this busdriver now has the audacity to say she is going to sue the radio station. Let's see, she viloates the rules of her employment voluntarily and endangers school kids but wants to blame someone else for it.... simply shocking in this day and age.

When I was in Middle School a million years ago, all ,kids had to have a school photo ID to get on the bus. The bus is a service wherein the driver goes from point A to point B, if a parent does not trust the bus service they can always bring the kid to school themselves, I don't think the bus driver should be a baby sitter, he/she needs to be watching the road. This whole thing is stupid, give the girl her job back and tell the radio employee to get a life, not only was what he did not funny, it was not even interesting nor worth listening to on the radio.

I'm sorry but I must disagree with you on this. I can almost guarantee that the bus drivers have rules which stricly prohibit permitting any non student to board the schoolbus. If she violated the rules of her employment, she should be fired.

She also exercised very poor judgment. I am not saying that she has any duty to attempt to arrest or detain any person who attempts to board a schoolbus. She does however have the duty to at least verbally refuse someone entry which she apparently did not do. Had she done so and the person either by force or implied threat boarded anyway, her responsibility would end.

Essentially the radio station did a stupid thing to prove a valid point. The bus driver did not fulfill the basic duties of her employment.
