Visiting the area

What are some decent motels in the Charlotte area ?
Can't afford to spend a lot.

I would not stay in downtown Charlotte. Blacks are running wild, way to much crime!!!!

Make sure you vist the Buchead Saloon while you are here. Try the Drury Inn and Suites North Lake Charlotte you can get a room for $80 a night. This Hotel is in the center of Charlotte.

advice? Dont go out after dark. Stay in a group. Dont carry a purse. Dont drive with your doors unlocked. Dont walk the streets alone. Dont use the atm. Tip, head to Lake Norman or the mountains. And even then your not totally safe.

Thanks for the info. The price sounds right. I will make sure to check out the Buchead Saloon, the reason I am coming to town I just might need a good stiff drink.

Is the crime that bad there ? It will be myself and a friend. I plan on trying to find a friend that lives in the Mint Hill area. Thanks for the advice and I will be careful. Is Lake Norman close to Charlotte and is it isolated ?

Is there any law on carrying pepper spray ?

Another question what is the weather like this time of year ?

Lake Norman is close- not isolated - busy and congested.

bring it legal or not. It should work on one, but I doubt that you will stop the usual three or four. be careful.

Low 60's during the day and anywhere from 29-41 at night.

charlotte makes detroit look like rookies

The friend that I am hoping to find lives in Mint Hill. Is this a better neighborhood and is there lodging there ? I live in Northern California in a small town, not much crime. A murder maybe every couple of years.

Charlotte is no worse than any other city for crime. You have to be cautious wherever you may be. That's life in this day and time. You may want to check out the Concord area while you are here. It's not as crowded as Charlotte and on the same side of town as Mint Hill.

I live near Downtown in an 'improving' neighborhood. I have never felt unsafe or threatened anywhere in charlotte. I have walked the 1.5 miles to down several times, and never felt threatened. Like said above, you have to be careful wherever you are no matter what city you are in, take precautions like you would in any big city.
