Deputies: Trio Gave Fake Painkillers To Fellow Students

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C.-- Three North Iredell Middle School students face charges after they distributed pills to more than a dozen students Tuesday, deputies said.

The students allegedly claimed the pills were the prescription painkillers Oxycotin and Hydrocodone. Investigators said the pills were actually the over-the-counter pain reliever Excedrine and several types of antiobiotics that two boys brought from home.

Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond said the boys sold the pills to 13 students and also to a girl, who then gave some of the pills to another person.

One of the students who ingested the pills was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Another was taken to a hospital by parents. None of the children had serious injuries.

Detective Sgt. Randy Chilton is pursuing charges of possession and delivery of a counterfeit controlled substance against the two boys and girl.

Because all three are juveniles, their names have not been released.

My son knew Brock Franklin and was friends with him til he said he started "changing".....was he doing drugs and dealing them too? Didn't his Dad die as well? I've followed this case since it happened as my son was in the same graduating class as Brock and I thought about him through the whole graduation. I just think the whole situation sucks really....2 people are dead, a kid is in prison. Can't get much worse than that. Can somebody tell me the real story? I have read bits and pieces on this board but never really understood what happened and how much of this might of been his mom's fault....etc.
