Where is Barbara Pinson?

I just read a short thread on a board that said she was let go from WBTV. What is going on? The last time she was on, they said she was recovering from foot surgery but I noticed she hasn't been on in a while. Then I read this today. Does anyone know what happened?

I don't know where she is,but she is gone. Kristen Miranda and Sharon smith both have been given try outs for the job. My personal opinion is that John Carter didn't like Barbara. I think he has some pull on the morning show.

I have noticed that Barbara has been gone for quite some time. I watch the morning news with John Carter and Barbara everyday. I just thought it was the holidays at first. I miss her in the mornings. She was always a positive voice to hear as I got ready for work. The people that they have as his co-anchors now don't bring the chemistry as before. I think I am going to have to switch to another channel

Wow!.....John Carter just can't seem to keep a co-host (this is at least the 5th since he has been there)....Oh well, good luck Barbara.

WBTV.....lets see here? It looks as if the probelm is not your morning co-anchors. It's John unfortunatly. I beleive this is the morning show... WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

My husband and I agree with all of you about the ins and outs of co-anchors on the morning show news as well. Yep, believe old John Boy is totally running the show around there and we have switched our morning news as well. And we soooo loved channel 3 news before but things have just gotten way too weird over there for us. Emailed John myself for an answer and after about 3 weeks got a very evasive answer. So...We miss Lenise and Barbara both. Just not the same anymore.

Oh, just FYI, on the WBTV.com home site,on the personalities link, on her last day Barbara had updated her profile the very morning she was let go. So I can imagine what a shock it was to her. They did lenise the same way. Came to her desk after the morning news program and gave her the ax!

speaking of lenise first she deserved to be fired because she insulted a former reporter name JON awhile back. he wore contacts but one day he had to wear his glasses and she made the funny comment of oh look his wearing pepsi bottles which ment his glasses were really thick. this was on live tv.you don't cut people down at any time . i don't think john had anything to do with this . do you not think she may have violated some company rule?

If that was the case than alot of reporters would have been fired, because of their rude comments.

it was jan jeffcoat, first, then, mike nikko, the weather guy, then lenise, and then barbara, whom i liked alot. i think john carter is insincere sounding, and and he made wise cracks all the time to the weather guy, whom i liked. chris suchan seemed to be able to "sluff off" john's wise cracks. i never have really liked him. i am watching nbc...try it,everybody.

i've never really liked john carter...that's what i meant.

The only reason NBC is watchable is Larry Sprinkle.

I have always loved the morning show on WBTV. I really like John Carter. I am, however, disturbed by the constant dismissal of female news anchors without any explanation to the viewing audience. Barbara Pinson was a wonderful complement to John. I really miss Chris Suchan. He was the most entertaining weather forecaster around. I hope that WBTV can find a female anchor soon. I think that Sharon Smith would be a great match for John.

I do like Larry Sprinkle...and the rest of the group. They don't seem fake.

I'm don't know what happened, but If John can go batty over his college every chance he gets ,I'm hoping professionalism wasn't the reason for Barbara dismissal. My gut feeling about John is that he very arrogant and in a subtle way he likes to put his co-anchors down and in their "place".

Interesting take on all this. The rollercoaster goes back much farther.. I recall Cecile Chioco was his partner when I moved to Charlotte years ago. Shannon Bream was one of the better ones.. she's on Fox News Channel now as a reporter. Cecile, Jan Jeffcoat, and Shannon Bream all left on their own terms. I thought Barbara was great and I'm surprised she's gone. I couldn't stand Lenise Ligon.. she was corny and her voice irritating.

I think this may be bigger than just John Carter. They still haven't replaced Chris Suchan (there's a temp guy that does the noon broadcast, I believe), and I think they might be feeling the economic crunch and have to cut back. While Barbara was effective, she wasn't terribly memorable either, and easy to have some other not so memorable reporters fill in. I think this might be a lay off as opposed to a firing, but who knows. I didn't agree with my lay off either, but that's life! lol.

Sounds like the kiss of death for anyone who sits next to John at the anchor desk... I hope Sharon Smith doesn't get the gig for that very reason... John must go!

I could not agree with you more. It seems that WBTV might try replacing John 1x instead of replacing co-anchors 10x....
