"Late former Twins owner Calvin Griffith would have turned 99 today. He died at age 87." Seriously, this is "news"? Hey Shooter, next month Jesus would have turned 6,000. He died at age 33.

Disappointing: Gophers interim football coach Jeff Horton, who led Minnesota to victories over projected bowl teams Illinois and Iowa in the last two games of the season, was told he would be interviewed for the permanent job. But as of Monday afternoon, he had not received an interview. Big surprise. Rat Maturi has no class or ethics. maturi@umn.edu

Great idea about hiring Shannon! Let's take a coach who failed miserably at an elite program and make him the coach of Minnesota. The AD just needs to admit he is focused on being a tier two program. Or better still, go be AD at Bemidji State

So a guy who fails to succeed with a program with a recent highly-successful football tradition in the hottest recruiting enviroment in the country is going to be successful in a prgram that has no recent success with a non-existent recruiting pool? Makes sense..... U of M sense that is.

You don't need a top coach in Minnesota, only some one that can recruit and win 6 games a year. Minnesota will never have a top program again. I think someone like Shannon who keeps the players in the classroom and out of trouble off the field would do well here.

WTH. Head start on early signing? Still looking for a coach? This is a joke. We're getting no where with Maturi in charge. He has no clue!

Well the problem with us Minnesotans is right across the border is the University of Wisconsin, who incidently would kick seven shades of dog@#$% out of both U of M's combined, in a worse recruiting environment than we have here? If Alvarez can do it there it ought to be able to be done in a brand new facility here......?

Even though they have lost one game, I think right now they could beat anyone in the country. The difference between the badgers program and the gophers program is striking.

Fedora was Offensive Coordinator at Oklahoma State for 3 yrs and U of Florida for 1 yr prior to Southern Miss. Pretty good credentials. Wonder if he is truly an interested candidate or this is wild speculation.

coming to coach gophers is suicide for any coach because good talented players want big name schools .well if they want recognition they need at least 20 very intelligent players to make a difference and win in minnesota but no one has enough kiwi s to play for minny

This makes no sense at all and is just another reason that Maturi should have been fired at the same time as Brewster. Don't get your p an tys all wet over this news......the guy is being used as a minority candidate only. The college hiring process is different then the NFL but they still want to please everyone.......and then Maturi comes up with another......Brewster!!!!!!!! after all that looking. He should of gone with Mike Grant of Eden Prairie last time......at least compare to Brewster he won't be selling Rose Bowl Kool-aids.
