I bought the book Marc Treatman authored, "Perserverance" that was an autobiography but also had much to say about leadership that could be applied to the business world since he is a law school graduate and also worked in private business after being let go along with George Seifert from the 49ers. He is using proceeds from the book as a fundraiser to combat Alzheimer's. I would recommend his book to anyone who thinks he should be the U's next head coach. I am impressed by his humility because he sent me a note thanking me for buying his book and thanking me for feedback about the book. I live in Arkansas but I wanted to comment because humility and perspective are not traits of many coaches.
He has a great arrangement with the owner of the Alouettes because he can work coaching around being with his family. His two daughters did not want to leave their home near Raleigh, North Carolina and Marc considers his family within his coaching career.

He's only getting press b/c he's a native Minnesotan. Would he be considered at any other Big Ten program going through their search? No. We need a coach, not a homer.

Marc Trestman coached on National Championship Teams, Position coached a Heisman winner, and another Heisman Candidate (from Minnesota). He recruited Minnesota's top talent away from Minnesota for years. He was also a Coordinator for very successful NFL teams. Coaches like Jon Gruden would have very good things to say about him. Now he is a premier Head Coach.
Trestman is everything that Brewster believed himself to be, and more.

Trestman may be the right guy, but because Brewster screwed it up so bad, it's going to take a bigger name and more money to satisfy the fans/boosters/alumni this time around.

Great, Lou Holtz. A guy that had twice as many NCAA violations as MONTHS lived in Minnesota. I was wrong there BUT that is the weakest example in the history of intercollegiate football.
