1. Dungy already said no three days ago, so I'm not sure why he would even be brought up.

2. Cowher lives in Carolina and it's no secret that John Fox is done there after this season. Cowher will be the head coach/GM before Fox clears out his office.

3. Gruden would never work in Dallas. Jerry Jones likes his head coaches to be nice and pliable. And Gruden would want to be GM. Don't think Jerry will fire himself from the position. As for Minnesoat- I agree with others. He took a Tampa team that was already in place and won. When he tried his own coaching in Oakland and Tampa, the teams were bad.

4. Parcells may be a "name", but I'm not sure he would want to be here. And he's starting to get a reputation of bolting from an organization in a snit. Not sure he's the best thing for us.

5. May as well throw in the one name Shooter missed- Brian Billick. I frankly agree with some of the posters above that he may be the best "fit", but I'm not sure he'll be a sexy enough choice to get people juiced up enough to build a new stadium. And let's be honest- thast is what the next coach will be about. He'll be the "name" to push the stadium effort.

I think what the Vikings need is a coach with the ability to develop a good young QB. Gruden has never done this and was probably shown the exit at Tampa because of it. Billick also failed at developing a QB with the Ravens and Dungy had Peyton fall in his lap! Cowher stuck with Cordell Stewart for way to many years and was lucky to have Big Ben fall to him in the draft. That said, the new coach will also have to be able to adjust to his players talents and not try to pound a square peg into a circle like Klink did! I think Jackie from Ely has some good points about Frazier. Others to ponder; is he willing to move away from that ancient cover 2 defense or will he stick to the same crap that has been getting them toasted all year? Can he develop a young QB next year or will he stick with TJ? Also will he get rid of the West Crap Offense or will he stick with Klinks Ar$e Kicking philosophy?
I won't pretend to know the answer about whom will be coaching in 2011 but I don't believe that any of the above will get the nod.

What has Gruden done but win once with Dungy's team and then let that team fall apart? Not a good choice at all.
I agree. Furthermore, how did Gruden do in his stint with the Raiders???

Are you out of your freakin mind?! Have you listened to Gruden on Monday night football? He has nothing intelligent to say and never shuts up? How will he be an asset to the Vikings?
Have you ever noticed that Gruden basically inherited Tony Dungy's team in Tampa before it won a Super Bowl, but then brought the Bucs back to permanent rebuilding status? Gruden is not the answer and comes at a very steep price. No thank you.

Has anyone looked at Gruden's NFL coaching record? besides winning a Super Bowl after taking over for Dungy's already winning team, his record is mediocre at best. Cowher is the answer if Frazier can't make improvements with the games he has left.

The owners already know if there will be a lockout for next season, so this coaching choice should be a good indicator of their plans for 2011. If there is going to be a lockout Wilf knows he's under no pressure to make a choice, because the team he finally fields in late 2011 or 2012 could be drastically different from the one he own today. There are a lot of veteran players who may retire/option/free agent there way out of here, depending on the new labor agreement.

Wilf's choice should be the guy he wants to build the team he thinks he would have after a settlement, not someone to just run Chilly's team. If he goes with Frazier it will be on a short term deal to keep the seat warm. If he hires a big name it will be because it's likely there's no lockout planned.

Disclaimer: Vikings fan, no matter what my location says!

Why is it assumed that the best choice is always some Washed Up, Has Been Coach who had success in the past?? Why are these coaches unemployed??? We need to give Frazier a chance. Being a head coach is Different then being a Coordinator.. Any doubt why Bill Belichick is considered a Genious Today when he wasn't as successful as a Coordinator??.. The Vikings need to Build a Power not borrow Old Beaten Down Heros from the past.. You see where that's gotten us... Favre, Moon, McMann, Hershel Walker! How many Dynasties were built off Rejects?? Look at Oakland for goodness sakes!

Here it is, Frazier was turned down after 7 interviews for head jobs, thats right folks "7" turndowns. Now may I ask, why was that? Its because he is not a good finishing coach. He gets close by being ultra conservative with a no pressure defense, but never finishes. Another good example was against the Pack when he stopped AR cold for one quarter by using blitz packages then backed off going right back to his conservative four man rush and soft secondary which produced nothing. His rotation which put two of his best defensive linemen on the bench while AR sat back and threw the first bomb was ridiculous after he set them up with short stuff underneath and when they came up to cover it he went over the top. Talk about being sucked in, ouch! In my opinion the Vikes are one of the worse all around coached defenses in the NFL and you want to make Frazier the head coach so we as fans can have more of the same. I hope I am wrong but can't see where this is a change, unless Chilli wouldn't let him blitz, which I doubt.

Well done Jackie
You've already surpassed half the Viking fans on this board and all of the packer fans.
He has six games to prove you wrong, but I'm guessing Frazier will be fighting an uphill battle.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Capricorn

Someone you care about could easily lose the plot today, which will lead to all sorts of ructions. Be patient - they aren't thinking logically or rationally, and are easily influenced by their emotions. Take care if you start to take on their persona, because it will be very tiring and drain you of energy. You'll also find that you keep chopping and changing your mind at the drop of a hat, which will mean others get quite impatient with you.
