I can't wait to see how this plays out. Cablevision will offer less storage online they you currently get in your set top DVR and then charge you a premium to get more storage on their servers just to take you to the level of capacity that you already have.

Oh get a life and stop watching the tube. Fresh air is wonderful if you take the time to get off the lay-z-boy.

So in addition to paying extra for this new technology, is Cablevision also going to pass the cost of this lawsuit on to its already overpaying customers?

I'll tell you why I'm overpaying. I don't watch sports and I don't speak Spanish. All I really want are 2 channels. HBO and Showtime. For that privilege, I must get the gold package. Why is that? Oh good. Jaws is on again tonight.

Cable should be free, teachers should get no salary or benefits for dealing with your spoiled offspring and all police are lowlifes at dunkin donuts doing nothing. Welcome to Long Island's pitty party. Low salary teachers and you will get the same results as NYC, no police and people will complain about safety, cheaper cable and then they would be upset with their limited options to choose from. They should keep all of their income, and all services should be provided for free and all business's should not worry about profits.

When 'pay TV' was dreamed up and cable was on the drawing board years ago, we were promised "commercial-free TV" since the people would be paying for it and advertising would not be necessary. We all know how that worked out.

Cant buy a set-top box
Farmingdale, NY
|
I'm still waiting to buy my own set-top box with built in dvr. For now I have to rent one from my cable company for $15/month. This news does not bode well for me or my fellow consumers. In the late 90's congress passed a law to allow us all to buy set-top boxes so we don't have to endlessly rent them from the cable companies, which is why we see those silly cards sticking out the front of the boxes. We are supposed to be able to take that card and stick it in our own box that we purchased and use our own dvr with the guide data from our cable company. Unfortunately whenever I contact the set-top box makers to purchase one they say it is not possible unless I am a cable company. Where is my box?

If it's good for Cablevision, it's probably bad for consumers. And do we get to keep the remote boxes if we want?

I think this article forgot to say "Cablevision is the parent company of Newsday," like they usually do.

I don't speak spanish, and I'm not at all interested in the religion or the nonstop selling channels, but those channells are about all that is left on the regular non-box band - I even need the box for History channel. Why are the spanish channels protected? Dolan's bribes to crookhaven town hacks are still in place, so no alternative available.
