Thanks for the article, but it doesn't automatically bypass commercials. I have a Hopper at home and Auto Hop only works on PrimeTime Anytime recorded shows, so only HD locals. And then, when you go to watch one of those shows, it'll ask you each time if you want to hop over the commercials. I was talking to some of my coworkers here at DISH and we all like that. Especially since, at least for me, there are times when I want the commercials to play in the background so I can talk with my roommate about what just happened. The choice is what makes this fantastic for me.
Why donít CBS, FOX, and NBC execs want consumers to enjoy commercial-free TV? Itís what we want! Iím a customer and employee of Dish, and I think AutoHop is great because you can easily watch commercial-free TV. A well known consumer advocacy group, Public Knowledge, agrees that people should have the right to control how they watch TV. Theyíre taking a stand for consumers by creating a petition that tells CBS, FOX, and NBC media to keep their hands out of your living room and DVR.
