Like Allstate, the IRL is in good hands. Right ? WRONG. If yesterdays press conference didn't raise eyebrows regarding this makeshift 'merger' you must be blind. The so called 'leader' is painfully clueless.

Tony G was a jerk, is a jerk and always will be a jerk. Just proves when you are handed money it does not make you smart.

Tony, don't let the negative comments bother you. They are just so much "sour grapes" from old time sporty-car types who have always felt way above oval track racers. A combination oval and road race series is going to be just fine. You are doing a superb job in being the leader of open wheel racing in North America. When I renew my Indy 500 tickets this year, it will be the 45th time I have done that. No one should miss what you have planned for the 100th Anniversary in 2009.

Tony, Keep the hammer with you ! Looks like there is still work to be done ! As I've said before, Tony Hulman would be proud of you. You've been berated and dragged through the mud more than Pres. Bush , but still remained above fray and always took the high road, unlike the Chump Car "leaders". Keep a close eye on those guys!

Nice to see so many teams interested in open wheel racing (one unified series). It will help in putting on good events.

It will help with the series corner stone event (Indianapolis 500) and the month of May. Sounds like there will be real bumping at Indy again. Not the contrived boring bump days that have came in recent past. Real guys going out and letting it hang out to get into the field (I always like the underdog teams).

May have to have real qualifying at other venues as well with the number of teams and drivers.(Like NASCAR so go or go home teams.)

Say what you will about Tony George...he is not buying out the Champ Car World Series with "money handed to him."

He has built that Indianapolis Motor Speedway facility into a shrine to motorsports, not to mention a cash cow. I've always been critical that the stock car race had allot to do with putting NASCAR on an equal footing with Indycar racing; propelling them past our beloved sport. But it, no doubt, nearly replicates month-of-may revenues. And then there's the recent run of Formula 1 races adding to the tracks coffers (and I really doubt that the city complains much about George's contribution to the local economy).

So I'm really amused at some of the stubbornness reflected on these threads. "Damn this sucks! Indycar racing will be a booming sport again...and that blank-blank Tony George has no clue what he's doing! We're screwed!

I, for one, think he's demonstrated that he does, in fact, know a thing or two about what he's doing. I think we're in good hands with this sport. And I also predict that all the naysayer out there are going to see a more immediate impact on the sporting world tha people realize with this new, unified Indycar Series. The on-track product is going to be awesome.

"Milka Duno will compete in 11 races, including Indy, for Dreyer & Reinbold."

Let's all hope that unification means Milka gets her unsuccessful qualifying run after a couple practice crashes and then slinks back to Venezuela. She gives the term "back-marker" a bad name!

But she has an awesome Rack and pinion. Her attenuator isn't bad either.

I appreciate your optimism, but I don't think Indy will ever be number one in terms of fan numbers again. NAPCAR is racing for the masses. It makes good TV. Everyone can see, at a glance towards the television, where their driver is. And everybody knows that the orange Home Depot car is Tony Stewart and the rainbow DuPont car is Jeff Gordon and the red Budweiser car is Dale Ear... well, you know what I mean. NAPCAR fans are NOT racing fans, they are fans of a Television Series; a SHOW. These are the same people who watch pro wrestling and think that the American Idol contestants can sing. Indy will compete for the #1 spot again, only when it's television presence appeals more to the masses. Now, that could truly ruin the sport. I'm happy to be in the minority who simply appreciate superior drivers in superior cars doing actual racing.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Pisces

You should have a lucky break today when fate steps in and takes a hand. For instance, a situation may seem to be heading for disaster when you're suddenly bailed out in ways you would never have imagined. However, this doesn't mean you can take foolish risks in the hope that things will work out all right because there's no guaranteeing that they'll do so automatically.
